摘要: A mirror assembly security system for a vehicle includes an exterior mirror assembly and having a reflective element and a housing for the reflective element. A security light made up of at least one light-emitting diode projects light from the housing on an area adjacent the vehicle to create a lighted security zone in the area. An actuator is provided for the security light. The security light may be a plurality of light-emitting diodes either each positioned in its own aperture in the housing, or arranged as an array of LEDs in a common aperture. A lens may be provided covering the aperture.

摘要: An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror head having an electrochromic reflective mirror element. A mirror mount is configured for attaching the interior rearview mirror assembly at an attachment element at an interior surface of a vehicle windshield. The interior rearview mirror assembly includes a portion that does not adjust when the driver of the vehicle pivotally adjusts the mirror head to set the rearward field of view of the reflective mirror element. The interior rearview mirror assembly includes circuitry, with at least a part of the circuitry accommodated within the mirror head. At least two electrical accessories of the interior rearview mirror assembly share at least one component of the circuitry. The portion includes a CMOS-based camera that, with the interior rearview mirror assembly normally mounted in the vehicle, has a field of view through a windshield of the vehicle.

摘要: A vehicle memory mirror system includes a vehicle mirror assembly and a control module. The vehicle mirror assembly includes a reflective element, a motor for positioning the reflective element about an axis, a monitor for monitoring the position of the reflective element with respect to the axis, and a mirror-based control including a position control which is operatively connected with the motor and the monitor in order to position the reflective element at a particular position. The control module is interconnected with the mirror-based control by an analog interface and includes a processor for providing analog signals on the analog interface indicative of a desired position of the reflective element with respect to the axis. The mirror-based control preferably includes a servo-amplifier circuit. The control module can control the speed of movement by formatting a series of sequential signals on the interface, each representing an incremental movement of the reflective element.

摘要: Interior vehicle instrumentation and/or console lighting is provided by an interior rearview mirror assembly or interior lamp assembly incorporating a non-incandescent, directed, low level, low power, non-glare producing light emitting source. The source illuminates portions of the vehicle interior such as the instrumentation or controls in the instrument panel or console area. One or more of such light emitting sources is optionally mounted on or within the mirror case or mirror support separate from any conventional incandescent lamp or lamps which may be mounted in the mirror assembly to provide general interior lighting. Alternately, the light emitting source can be mounted on or within an interior vehicle lamp assembly such as a dome lamp, rail lamp, or the like. Preferably, the light emitting source is a solid state lamp such as a light emitting diode, is controlled via the ignition switch and/or a rheostat/dimmer switch, and most preferably provides a maximum illumination of about 0.2 to 4.0 lux at 22 to 26 inches at about 20 mA to about 50 mA or less current and about 2.0 volts to about 5.0 volts or less.

摘要: A window panel assembly to be bonded to a vehicle body opening using a conventional, window fixing urethane adhesive disposed between the vehicle pinch-weld flange and a polymeric gasket attached to the window panel. The joint produced between the window fixing adhesive and the polymeric gasket has a bond strength and performance greater than that achieved in conventional metal-to-glass bonds using the same fixing adhesive. The panel assembly of this invention may be sent to the automobile manufacturer so that all the installer needs to do is apply the window fixing adhesive between the gasket and the vehicle in a conventional manner. The strong bond can be achieved even after the panel assembly has been in storage for days, weeks, or even several months prior to installation. The panel assembly includes a gasket bonded to a sheet-like panel and having a surface adapted to receive a window fixing adhesive for bonding the sheet-like panel in the vehicle opening. An adhesion-promoting compound is applied to the gasket surface and heated to a transition temperature of at least about 60.degree. C. When raised to at least this temperature, the adhesion-promoting compound and gasket bond with the fixing adhesive when the window panel assembly is installed. A load exerted on the joint sufficient to cause a failure results in a cohesive failure of the gasket, the fixing adhesive, or both, but not of the adhesion between the gasket and fixing adhesive. A method is also provided for making the panel assembly of this invention.

A rear vision communication system is provided to effect communication between the rearview assemblies. The rear vision communication system also includes a communication link with the vehicle multiplex communication network. The vehicle rear vision system may include an interactive dynamic position control, which repositions each mirror in the system in response to a change in the position of one mirror in a manner which allows the mirror aim to track a driver's eye position.

The carrier member includes a circuit member secured to and/or at least partially encased or encapsulated within a support body such that electrical connections extend therefrom. An improved mirror assembly method using such a carrier member is also provided.

When the mirror mount is attached to the attachment element, the reflective mirror element has a field of view rearward of the vehicle. The interior rearview mirror assembly includes a pivot joint enabling a driver of the vehicle to pivotally adjust the mirror head to set the rearward field of view of the reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting with the interior rearview mirror assembly attached to the attachment element. The interior rearview mirror assembly includes circuitry, and the circuitry comprises at least one of (a) a transmitter for a toll booth transaction function and (b) a receiver for a toll booth transaction function.

摘要: A vehicular interior rearview mirror system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly having one of (a) a variable reflectance reflective element and (b) a prismatic reflective element. The interior rearview mirror assembly includes a CMOS video microchip having, when the interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the vehicle, a field of view though the windshield forward of the vehicle and the interior rearview mirror assembly comprises electronic circuitry responsive to an input from the video microchip, the circuitry preferably controlling at least one headlamp of the vehicle. The mirror assembly may contain other accessories such as a compass sensor disposed in the mirror housing in the mirror housing behind and supported by the reflective element such that adjustment about at least one pivot joint by the driver to set the rearward field view of the reflective element moves the compass sensor in tandem with movement of the reflective element.
