Abstract:
High resolution composite images and ultra wide composite images are produced in a digital camera which combines a plurality of images to form a composite image on a single sheet. An image sensing unit includes a movable image sensing optical unit having a first and second focal lengths and a two-dimensional image sensing device. The image sensing unit is driven to control the optical axis of the image sensing optical unit so as to capture a plurality of images via the two-dimensional image sensing device. The plurality of images are combined to produce a composite image. An ultra wide composite image at standard resolution is produced by setting the focal length of the image sensing optical unit at a first focal length on the wide angle side, and a high resolution composite image is produced by setting the focal length of the image sensing optical unit at a second focal length on the telephoto side.
Abstract:
A truss type actuator including two piezoelectric devices drives a chip member provided at a crossing point of the piezoelectric devices for moving along an elliptic or a circular trail. The piezoelectric devices are respectively driven by driving signals having a frequency equal to or near to the resonance frequency of the piezoelectric devices. By utilizing the resonance phenomenon, the displacements of the piezoelectric device can be increased as larger as possible.

Abstract:
An actuator includes at least two piezoelectric devices arranged for crossing displacing directions thereof at a predetermined angle, a chip member provided at a coupling point of the piezoelectric devices, and a spring for contacting the chip member to a rotor driven by the actuator. The piezoelectric device is driven for moving the chip member trailing an elliptical trail. The rotation velocity or the driving torque of the rotor is controlled by varying at least one of a length of a major axis or a minor axis of the elliptical trail and an inclination angle of the major axis or the minor axis with respect to a normal at a contacting point of the chip member and the rotor.
Abstract:
Piezoelectric elements 10 and 10′ are driven so as to satisfy the relationship Nt=X0(1/(1/k2+1/k3)−1/(1/k1+1/k2+1/k3)) when the drive member, tip 20, and driven member, rotor 40, are in a state of intermittent contact, and in a state near the condition of transition from the intermittent contact state to the normal contact state. When the spring constant of the spring 41 is designated k1, the spring constant of the combined piezoelectric elements 10 and 10′ and the tip 20 is designated k2, the spring constant of the rotor 40 is designated k3, the amount of displacement of the piezoelectric elements 10 and 10′ is designated X0, and the compression force of the spring 41 is designated Nt.
Abstract:
An actuator included in a head substrate of an ink-jet head receives, with an electrode on the surface of the actuator, power fed from the wiring of a wiring substrate arranged opposite the head substrate. A first electrode of the wiring substrate is electrically connected to the wiring, and protrudes to the side of the head substrate. A second electrode is electrically connected to the electrode on the surface of the actuator, protrudes to the side of the wiring substrate and is electrically connected to the first electrode. The head substrate and the wiring substrate are adhered to each other through an adhesive layer such that a space to which the first electrode and the second electrode are exposed is hermetically sealed. The hermetically sealed space is in a vacuum state or is filled with a gas containing a predetermined amount of water or less.

Abstract:
The imaging device divides the two-dimensional photo object into multiple sections before performing imaging, and obtains an ultra-high resolution complete image by splicing together the partial images of the photo object. To this end, in the imaging device, the area sensor is held essentially parallel to the photo object, and the imaging lens is moved such that its optical axis L draws a circle with the normal line N that passes trough the center of the area sensor 20 as the center of the circle. The imaging lens is stopped at each of the positions at which the imaging optical system optical axis that connects the center of the area sensor and the principal point of the imaging lens passes through the imaging center point of each section of the photo object, in order to perform imaging of each section of the photo object.
Abstract:
In the present invention, a specific region in which the edge of the document is specified as the exterior edge is discriminated for the presence of an image, and images separated from the exterior edge of an area positioned on the interior side of the interior edge of said specific region are discriminated as unnecessary images and erased. Also, in the present invention, images including parts adjacent to the edge of a document within a read image are examined and intersections of the edges and outlines of the images are discriminated, and unnecessary images of user fingers are discriminated from necessary images such as headers and the like and erased. Also, in the present invention, images directly adjacent to the exterior side and interior side of the document edges can be discriminated as unnecessary images by focusing on the hands of a user holding the book document and covering a part of the document at the exterior side, and recognizing similarities in pixel density.
Abstract:
An image reader capable of outputting excellent quality read images, without illumination irregularities, similar to that of flat documents even when the document surface is curved as in the case of book-like documents. An image reader provided with a memory to store correction data to correct differences of illumination of each pixel of a document image, and which corrects the read information of each pixel in a document image using correction data corresponding to the measured height of a document surface among correction data stored in the memory. For one aspect, this image reader is constructed so as to correct a group of read information corresponding to a set of pixels arrayed in one direction by excluding specific frequencies among the illumination distribution from the set.
