摘要: A planar illumination device includes a light source unit, including a substantially planar emitting surface, configured to emit light to illuminate a substantially planar object, and a frame, formed in a frame shape enclosing the light source unit, disposed on an outer circumferential side of the light source unit, configured to hold the light source unit. The frame includes a reflecting part configured to reflect the light, and an absorbing part, formed integral with at least a part of an outer circumferential surface of the reflecting part, configured to absorb the light. The reflecting part and the absorbing part include joint interface therebetween that is inclined to a direction vertical to the emitting surface.

摘要: A keyboard apparatus. The apparatus has a housing including a plurality of key pads, including at least twenty six key pads spatially disposed within the housing. Each of the key pads is depressible upon touch by a user. An optically transparent circuit board is coupled to a backside of each of the key pads. The apparatus has a light guide characterized by a planar optically transparent material having a surface region, a width, a length, and a backside region, and a thickness provided between the surface region and the backside region. The apparatus has a plurality of patterns disposed on the surface region and optically coupled respectively to each of the twenty six key members. In a specific embodiment, the apparatus has a light emitting diode provided within a center region of the surface region to emit electromagnetic radiation. The electromagnetic radiation propagates from the light emitting diode through a portion of the thickness of the light guide to one or more of the plurality of patterns to direct one or more portions of the electromagnetic radiation to respective key pads for lighting the respective key pads.

摘要: In a spread illuminating apparatus comprising a light conductive plate, and at least one spot-like light source disposed close to a light entrance surface thereof, the light conductive plate has, on its light exit surface, a light scattering means comprising a plurality of mechanisms which are each formed so as to extend in a direction perpendicular to the light entrance surface, and which are adapted to scatter the light emitted from the at least one spot-like light source with respect to the direction parallel to the light entrance surface. The mechanisms of the light scattering means each consist of either paired slanting surfaces, a ridge with its surface arced in cross section, or a ridge multifaceted forming a polygonal cross section. The surfaces of the mechanisms may be roughened with a plurality of grooves, thereby achieving a further uniform illumination.

摘要: The object of the present invention is to provide a piston ring which is free from occurrence of cracks on the nitrided layer and having enhanced abrasion resistance and fatigue strength, and to provide a process for manufacturing the piston ring. In the invention, a surface of the steel body is subjected to a two-stage nitriding treatment consisting of low-temperature nitriding and high-temperature nitriding. A white layer on the slidable surface along the inner periphery surface of a cylinder is removed, and a white layer on each of the upper and lower surfaces and the corner portions each being adjacent to the slidable surface is removed to have a thickness of not more than 5 .mu.m.

摘要: A spread illuminating apparatus includes: a light guide plate including a plurality of protrusions disposed along a side surface thereof such that a plurality of interspaces are formed with each interspace being located between two adjacent protrusions; and a plurality of LEDs which include first row LEDs and second row LEDs disposed in two rows respectively at the interspaces and the protrusions. The distal portion of the protrusion has, at its top end surface, a width which is larger than the width of an opening area of the recess of a lamp house and also smaller than the overall width of the lamp house. The first and second row LEDs adjacent to each other are disposed such that respective lamp houses of two adjacent LEDs partly overlap with each other when viewed from the light emission direction.

One resistive layer of a pair of resistive layers disposed opposite to each other across a plurality of insulating dot spacers is laid on a translucent flat plate, and a light conductive plate of a front light unit is integrated with an outer surface side of the translucent flat plate. The translucent flat plate is formed of a PET film in place of a glass plate.

摘要: In a magnetic head, a second leg portion 10b with which a coil is not coupled is connected to a first long side 82 1 (outer-body 8). Since the sectional area (thickness) is made larger in comparison to the conventional technique, thereby the magnetic resistance becomes lower and the read/write efficiency is increased. Since the second leg portion 10b is adapted to be connected to the outer-body 8 and thereby has a great rigidity, even if any shock is applied during assembling or while in use, the second leg portion 10b is prevented from being bent or generating cracks.

摘要: A compression ring as a piston ring adapted to by received in an annular groove formed in a piston disposed in a cylinder assembly of an internal combustion engine includes an annular ring base member having a cutout portion, the ring base member having an outer sliding surface, upper and lower surfaces continuous to the sliding surface through corner portions and an inner peripheral surface to be fitted to the piston groove, the sliding surface contacting an inner wall of the cylinder when the piston reciprocates therein. A nitriding layer is formed on all the surfaces of the ring base member by a nitriding treatment. A white portion of the nitriding layer formed only on the sliding surface of the ring base member is substantially completely removed and white portions of the nitriding layer formed on the first and second surfaces and corner portions between the sliding surface and the upper and lower surfaces are removed so as to reduce thicknesses thereof to not more than 5 .mu.m.
