Crystalline polypropylene contains components insoluble in 64° C. decane satisfying the characteristics involving intrinsic viscosity; Mz/Mn; pentadvisotacticity, D value and Mw/Mn, are excellent in hardness and rigidity, high in melt tension, and excellent in molding properties. Processes for preparing such crystalline polypropylenes, and polypropylene compositions and thermoformed products that contain such crystalline polypropylenes are also described. The number-average molecular weight Mn of the components insoluble in 64° C. decane is preferably 25000 or more.

The invention provides a nonwoven fabric of crimped conjugate fibers comprising (1) a first propylene-based polymer component and (2) a second propylene-based polymer component, and a laminate of the nonwoven fabric and other nonwoven fabrics or porous films, in which the melting point of the component (1) is higher by at least 20° C. than that of the component (2) a ratio of the two components in melt flow rate (component (2)/component (1)) is in the range of 0.8 to 1.2, and the component ratio expressed by (1)/(2) (by weight) is 50/50 to 5/95. The nonwoven fabric has an excellent bulkiness and softness, is excellent in terms of spinnability and fuzzing resistance, and can be spun by a conventional melt spinning. The laminate has further improved water impermeability and surface smoothness. The nonwoven fabric and the laminate using the same may both be used for disposable diapers or sanitary napkins.

The conjugate fiber nonwoven fabric of the present invention comprises conjugate fibers, preferably core-sheath-type or side-by-side-type conjugate fibers, composed of a polyethylene-based resin (A) having a higher melting point in the range of 120 to 135° C. and a lower melting point in the range of 90 to 125° C., which is lower than the above higher melting point at least by 5° C., and a high-melting point resin (B) whose melting point is higher than that of the above polyethylene-based resin (A) by 10° C. or more, the component ratio by weight of the polyethylene-based resin (A) to the high-melting point resin (B) (A/B) being in the range of 50/50 to 10/90, and the polyethylene-based resin (A) forming at least part of the surface of the fiber longitudinally continuously. This conjugate fiber nonwoven fabric has an excellent softness and a high strength, and it is suitably used as a nonwoven fabric for sanitary materials.

An ethylene type polymer composition comprising 20 to 90% by weight of an ethylene type polymer (A) and 80 to 10% by weight of an ethylene type polymer (B). The ethylene type polymer (A) is an ethylene polymer or a copolymer of ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and has a density (d.sub.A) of 0.96 to 0.980 g/cm.sup.3 and an intrinsic viscosity (.eta.) of 0.5 to 3.0 dl/g. The ethylene type polymer (B) is an ethylene polymer or a copolymer of ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and has a density (d.sub.B) of 0.91 to 0.965 g/cm.sup.3 and an intrinsic viscosity (.eta.) of 1.0 to 10 dl/g. At least one of the ethylene type polymers (A) and (B) is an ethylene type polymer prepared by the use of a metallocene catalyst. The ethylene type polymer composition has the properties: d.sub.A /d.sub.B is larger than 1; the density is 0.940 to 0.970 g/cm.sup.3 ; the MFR is of 0.005 to 20 g/10 min; the MFR and the melt tension (MT) satisfy the relation log(MT).gtoreq.-0.4 log(MFR)+0.7; and the diametrical swell ratio exceeds 1.35. From this composition, molded articles having excellent mechanical strength and rigidity can be obtained.
