Abstract: Provided is a spun-bonded nonwoven fabric including fibers formed of a resin composition that contains: a propylene polymer (A); and a polymer (B) which is at least one selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, other than the propylene polymer (A), and polyesters. The fibers have a sea-island structure. The fibers include fibers in which a ratio of island phases having a diameter of less than 0.32 μm among those island phases at a cross-section perpendicular to the axial direction of the fibers is 60% or higher on a number basis. In the spun-bonded nonwoven fabric, a ratio (SMB/SCB) of the tensile strength (SMD) in a machine flow direction (MD) with respect to the tensile strength (SCD)) in a direction (CD) perpendicular to the machine flow direction (MD) is from 2.0 to 5.1.

The nonwoven fabric can include a first surface and a second surface and a visually discernible pattern of three-dimensional features on one of the first or second surface. Each of the three-dimensional features can define a microzone comprising a first region and a second region. The first and second regions can have a difference in values for an intensive property, and wherein in at least one of the microzones the first region exhibits a Contact Angle of greater than 90 degrees, as measured by the Contact Angle Test Method detailed herein.

Abstract: An absorbent article includes a first waist region, a second waist region, and a crotch region disposed between the first and second waist regions. The article also includes a chassis having a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet; and an ear joined to the chassis. The ear includes a laminate formed from a first nonwoven and second nonwoven and an elastomeric material sandwiched between said first and second nonwovens. The laminate further includes a plurality of ultrasonic bonds.

Abstract: Provided is a method for manufacturing a fishing net formed from a plastic net that can be handled by winding or folding although the net has plastic rigidity. The fishing net is manufactured by (1) a step of preparing a multifilament yarn formed by bundling a plurality of core-sheath type composite filaments, in each of which a core component is made of polyethylene terephthalate and a sheath component is made of polyolefin, (2) a step of preparing a yarn thread obtained by paralleling a plurality of the multifilament yarns, (3) a step of twisting or braiding four yarn threads 11, 12, 13, 14 to obtain a net constructed with strands 1 and intersections 2, (4) a step of heat-treating the net under without pressure to melt the sheath component of the yarn threads 11, 12, 13, 14 constituting the strands 1 and the intersections 2, followed by solidifying, thus obtaining a plastic net, and (5) a step of forming the fishing net using the plastic net.

Abstract: A process for producing a spunbonded nonwoven fabric includes ejecting a continuous fiber group from a spinneret, thinning and stretching the continuous fiber group with a rectangular ejector, and collecting the continuous fiber group in a nonwoven fabric form. The rectangular ejector has a jetting hole part having a slit width regulation member. A plurality of minute-deformation unit is disposed along a long-side direction of the slit width regulation member. A nonwoven fabric which has been collected is examined to determine a basis-weight distribution thereof in a width direction and the slit width regulation member is partly and minutely deformed by the minute-deformation unit on the basis of a determined value thereof to partly change a slit width of the jetting hole by its minute deformation, thereby regulating a basis-weight distribution thereof.

Abstract: A filtration material comprising a blend of polypropylene and acrylic fibers of round, flat, dog bone, oval or kidney bean shape in any size from 0.08 to 3.3 Dtex. A preferred blend contains about 50 weight percent polypropylene fibers and about 50 weight percent acrylic fibers. The fibers can be blended ranging from 90:10 to 10:90 polypropylene to acrylic. The shape contains 25 weight percent round, flat, oval, dog bone and kidney bean shapes. The fiber blend contains 25 weight percent of at least one size between 0.08 and 3.3 Dtex. Electret fibers incorporated within these blends have 0.02 to 33 weight percent of a charge control agent. These fibers can be used in producing electret material by corona or triboelectric charging methods.
