    摘要: In an FED (Field Emission Display), lowering of a color temperature is suppressed which is caused by that light emission luminance of respective color phosphors is different from each other so as to achieve a better white balance. A display apparatus is equipped with a cathode substrate containing a plurality of electron emitter elements, and an anode substrate. The anode substrate is arranged opposite to the cathode substrate, and contains three colors of red, green, blue phosphors which are excited by electrons emitted from the electron emitter elements so as to emit light. Then, an area of either the red phosphor or an area of the blue phosphor is made smaller than an area of the green phosphor.

    摘要: A flat panel display apparatus includes a rear substrate in which a number of cold cathode devices for emitting electrons are formed on an insulative substrate; a display substrate in which phosphors are arranged in a matrix shape on a translucent substrate; supporting members which are arranged between the rear substrate and the display substrate and maintain intervals between them; and frame members, in which a space surrounded by the rear substrate, the display substrate, and the frame members is set to a vacuum atmosphere. It then becomes possible to provide an apparatus in which there is no remarkable change between a scanning line resistance value in the scanning line direction in a portion with spacers and that in a portion without a spacer, a luminance variation can be reduced, and the apparatus has a conduction connection structure of the spacers and the scanning lines.

    摘要: The present invention provides a bright and high-resolution display apparatus having a dynamic range exceeding the number of gray-scale voltage (or current) outputs, which a signal driver is capable of generating. In accordance with the present invention, a select period, in which a group of pixels on each row is driven, is divided into a plurality of sub-periods. The signal driver supplies a voltage output varying from sub-period to sub-period to selected pixels through a signal electrode. The pixel is capable of expressing various values of a gray scale, the size of which is at least approximately equal to (the number of gray-scale voltage outputs, which the signal driver is capable of generating)×(the number of sub-periods). By changing the ratio of the length of a sub-period to the length of another sub-period or the range of the driving voltage (or current), the dynamic range of the display can be further increased.

A metallic sheet 120 in which a large number of fine-structured holes 122 each containing one fluorescent material 111 and for forming a light-emitting region are provided in matrix form is disposed on the light-transmissive substrate 110. Color filters that transmit the rays-of-light of desired colors, emitted from associated fluorescent materials, are provided between the light-transmissive substrate containing the fine-structured holes, and the fluorescent materials.

    摘要: An image that has been displayed on the display screen of an image generator 1 is first passed through a projection lens section 2 consisting of a front group and a rear group. Next after being reflected on the reflecting surface of a free-form surface mirror 5, the image is further reflected by a planar reflecting mirror 4 and then obliquely projected from the lower section of a projection screen 3 onto the screen 3. The front group of the projection lens section 2 is provided for enlarging the image. In order to correct aberration due to oblique projection onto the projection screen, the rear group uses a free-form surface lens that forms a concave shape with respect to the exit side of light from the lens. The free-form surface mirror 5 corrects trapezoidal distortion due to oblique projection onto the projection screen. The free-form surface lens in the rear group of the projection lens section 2 can accommodate changes in environmental conditions by using one edge as a reference edge and rendering the other edge expandable. The free-form surface mirror can likewise use one edge as a reference edge and render the other edge expandable. For adjustment, the free-form surface mirror can also be pivoted about the reference edge.

    摘要: A total reflecting prism portion is formed on an image generation source side of a Fresnel lens sheet which constitutes a rear projection type screen. The total reflecting prism portion is formed in an area in which the angle of incidence of a projection image projected from an optical part on the Fresnel lens sheet is at least about 40·. The total reflecting prism portion causes incident light to be outputted as output light at a predetermined output angle by a total reflection phenomenon after a first refraction phenomenon. A refracting prism portion is formed on an image monitoring side of the Fresnel lens sheet. The refracting prism portion is formed in an area opposed to the portion where the total reflecting prism portion is not formed. The refracting prism portion causes incident light to be outputted as output light at a predetermined output angle by a second refraction phenomenon.
