摘要: Methods of forming an air electrode of a metal-air battery are provided. One method includes forming a plurality of layers of the air electrode. The plurality of layers include an active layer and a gas diffusion layer. Forming at least one of the active layer or the gas diffusion layer includes forming a first sublayer having a first concentration of a first material and forming a second sublayer having at least one of a second concentration of the first material that differs from the first concentration or a second material that differs from the first material. In another embodiment, a method includes forming a layer of an air electrode such that a gradient of a material is formed in at least a portion of the layer by varying a concentration of the material deposited between a first portion of the layer and a second portion of the layer.

摘要: A rotary impactor for orthopedic surgery includes an output anvil and a hammer that is capable of imparting linear and rotary force on the anvil. The anvil may be moveable on a leadscrew element to alternately generate energy in an energy storage means and to move along the leadscrew element to impact the anvil. A viscoelastic mechanism or a dampening mechanism is used to reduce the reflected force and or torque during operation of the rotary impactor. High frequency linear impacts by the impactor obviate the need for a surgeon to provide an external push force on the impactor in order to perform a successful surgical operation.

摘要: An orthopedic impacting tool comprises a motor, a linear motion converter, an air chamber, a compression piston, an impacting element, an anvil element, and a broach adapter. The compression piston may cause the impacting element to apply controlled force on a broach adapter to create a precise opening for subsequently disposing a prosthesis in a patient. The tool allows forward or backward impacting for expanding the size or volume of the opening or for facilitating removal of the broach and tool from the opening. A force adjustment control of the tool allows a user to increase or decrease the impact force. A light source and hand grips improve ease of operation of the tool.

摘要: A fastener driving apparatus for driving fasteners into a substrate. The fastener driving apparatus is a combination of a motor driven linear motion converter; a compression cylinder; an expansion cylinder and a valve arrangement. The linear motion converter converts a rotational motion of a motor to a linear motion of a compression piston within the compression cylinder causing a gas within the compression cylinder to be compressed. The compressed gas is communicated to the expansion cylinder through the valve arrangement wherein the compressed gas expands causing an anvil coupled to an expansion piston within the expansion cylinder to move axially. The axial movement of the anvil causes a fastener to be driven into the substrate. The fastener driving apparatus is an ergonomically designed portable hand held tool providing comfort to a user, meeting safety standards and performance efficiency requirements.

摘要: A fastener driving apparatus includes a vacuum piston and a drive piston, which vacuum piston, when moved (by way of a motor and linear motion converter), draws a vacuum against the drive piston, which drive piston may be held in place by retention means. An anvil is coupled to the drive piston. The retention means is released electrically or mechanically at or near the point of maximum vacuum volume. This drive piston and anvil assembly is then driven by atmospheric pressure and may strike as fastener to drive it into a substrate. At least one position sensor may be used. Once the fastener is driven, the apparatus may reset to an initial position. At least one valve may be included to dump the energy stored in the vacuum in the case of a jam condition, thus providing good safety profile.

摘要: A compact impacting apparatus includes a spring anvil assembly with a spring, an anvil, and a barrel cam. A cam follower engages the barrel cam to energize the spring anvil assembly. The spring anvil assembly is thereafter released to impact a striker, which striker delivers impact force to an impact target. The spring anvil assembly may be biased in a starting operational position by the weight of the apparatus or the impact target. The spring anvil assembly may be disposed against a rotating pusher plate while engaged by the cam follower. Force of impact may be adjusted by repositioning the pusher plate and or changing the compression of the spring of the spring anvil assembly. The cam follower provides for repeated impacts upon the impact target and the striker holds the impact target in place for effective impacting.
