摘要: A video processing method for selectively processing character information (Ic) included in an inputted video stream (Svc). The video stream (Svc) is separated in units of frame into a brightness frame (Y) representing brightness information (VY) and a plurality of color difference frames (Cb, Cr) representing color difference information (VCb, VCr). Character information (Ic) included according to at least either of the brightness information (VY) and the color difference information (VCb, VCr) is recognized. The recognized character information (Ic) is subjected to a processing by at least one of deletion, movement, and enlargement.

摘要: In a method of converting a stream constituted by means of a first format and including audio information, image information or management information into a stream constituted by means of a second format, streams constituted by means of the first and the second formats are respectively comprised of a plurality of unit data, respective byte numbers constituting the unit data in the first and the second formats are different to each other, and the unit data of the first format can be converted without changing an encoding form thereof into the unit data of the second format.

摘要: An AV data recording/reproducing device is connected to a digital broadcasting tuner and the like via an IEEE1394 bus, in order to realize high-speed transfer when duplicating or transporting AV data between devices such as audio-visual data recording/reproducing devices. A synchronous transfer input/output portion inputs and outputs stream data that are AV data by isochronous transfer with an MPEG-2 transport stream. A recording control portion and a reproduction control portion generate timestamped data and reproduce the stream data, and an HDD stores the timestamped data. An asynchronous transfer input/output portion asynchronously inputs and outputs the timestamped data by SBP-2 transfer. Consequently, the timestamped data that can reproduce the stream data are transferred at high speeds, regardless of an actual time required for performing the display or the like of the stream data.

摘要: A data transfer apparatus is capable of DMA-transferring the transferable data sequentially generated by a processor. In the data transfer apparatus is provided a counter or an address latch for storing data corresponding to the upper limit (or lower limit) of the address of the transferable data. The content of this counter or latch and the content of the DMA address counter are sequentially compared and transferred, and when these values finally become equal to each other and there is no longer new transferable data, the DMA transfer is stopped and a transfer request is retained. By this constitution, the data transfer between the processor and a device which requires the data generated by the processor may be done instantly and asynchronously.

摘要: To achieve simultaneous recording of a plurality of programs, first and second system LSIs (10, 20) both having compression and decompression functions for video/audio information are connected to each other via a data bus (30). To attain synchronization of real-time display and chasing playback display of a program under recording, a hard disk drive (33) is connected to one of the system LSIs. A sync signal in a video/audio input of the first system LSI is supplied to the second system LSI, and a video/audio output of the second system LSI is supplied to the first system LSI as another video/audio input.

摘要: A transmission apparatus which alleviates, compared to conventional apparatuses, a processing burden such as transmission position management for terminals, which is required for video data distribution in a video-on-demand system distributing video data according to requests from user-side terminals. A transmission apparatus 100 uses an accumulation buffer control subunit 105 and a user buffer control subunit 106 to manage an accumulation buffer 102 of the transmission apparatus and a user buffer 153 of a playback apparatus. Upon receipt of a video data transmission request from the playback apparatus 150, the transmission apparatus 100 determines an accumulation buffer to be assigned to the playback apparatus. If a plurality of playback apparatuses are using the same accumulation buffer, amounts of data transmitted to the playback apparatuses are controlled while referencing user buffers 153 of the playback apparatuses, such that transmission positions of video data transmitted to the playback apparatuses are aligned.

A metadata extracting device extracts program preview property information and original program property information from the metadata. A program preview extracting device extracts a program preview content of an original program preview at least from either the video data or the audio data based on the program preview property information, and records the extracted program preview content on a recording medium as content checking support data. A digest saving/managing device generates at least a single digest by relating the program preview property information, the original program property information, and the content checking support data, and saves/manages the digest.
