Abstract: Vent gases from a catalyst cooler are directed downstream or outside of the catalyst regenerator to avoid sending air to a location where after burn may occur. Vent gases contain oxygen that when contacted with carbon monoxide in regenerator flue gas can cause after burn to occur at a location which lacks sufficient catalyst density to serve as a heat sink. Locating the cooling media supply in the top of the catalyst cooler enables cooled catalyst to drain from the bottom of the catalyst cooler and fitting more cooler tubes in the catalyst cooler.

Abstract: A power generation process for use in a processing unit that includes the steps of: using a regenerator to produce a flue gas stream; removing catalyst particles from the flue gas stream; routing the flue gas stream to a combustor/expander unit after performing the step of removing catalyst particles; and using rotation of the turbine of the combustor/expander unit as a source of rotary power. Preferably, the combustor/expander unit includes a combustion chamber and a power recovery turbine housed within a single casing. In certain embodiments, the flue gas stream is routed between the regenerator and the combustor/expander without passing through a compressor.

Abstract: A baffle is installed on the wall of a regenerator vessel to push catalyst away from the wall to ensure adequate exposure to regeneration gas and complete combustion of coke from the catalyst. We have found that in deep beds, catalyst can flow down the walls and escape sufficient exposure to regeneration gas and undergo too little regeneration.

Abstract: One exemplary embodiment can be a process for separating particulate solids from a gas stream. The process can include regenerating a catalyst in a regenerator, separating particulate solids in first and second cyclone stages, passing the gas stream from the second cyclone stage to an external third stage separator, and passing the gas stream from the external third stage separator to a cyclone recirculator to obtain a clean gas stream.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process and apparatus for recycling flue gas from a regenerator back to the regenerator to provide fluidization gas needs. Catalyst may be separated from the flue gas before recycle and the flue gas may be compressed before recycle to the regenerator. The process and apparatus reduces the size capacity of downstream product recovery equipment by reducing gases derived by oxidation in the process and reduces the potential for after burn in the regenerator.
