摘要: Toner compositions comprising toner particles including additive particles upon an external surface of the toner particles, wherein the additive particles include crosslinked styrene containing polymer particles, exhibit reduced sensitivity to relative humidity. The crosslinked styrene containing polymer particles preferably have an average particle size of from about 30 nm to about 300 nm, and may comprise styrene homopolymer particles, styrene copolymer particles or mixtures thereof. A process of reducing the relative humidity sensitivity of toner using such external surface additive is also described.

摘要: A developer includes black toner particles and carrier particles, the black toner particles including at least one binder, at least one black colorant and one or more external additives, wherein the toner particles comprise from about 7 to about 15 pph of the developer, and wherein the toner particles exhibit a triboelectric charge of from about −25 to about −50 μC/g at toner particle concentrations of about 7 to about 15 pph of the developer. The developer is ideally suited for use in a high speed (greater than 100 prints per minute) semiconductive magnetic brush development apparatus. Preferably, the black toner particles include a styrene acrylate binder, and the external additives include from about 1.3 to about 2.1% by weight of the toner particles of a first silica having an average particle size of from about 35 to about 45 nm, from about 0.5 to about 1.0% by weight of the toner particles of a second silica having an average particle size of from about 135 to about 160 nm, and from about 0.2 to about 0.5% by weight of the toner particles of a titania having an average particle size of from about 35 to about 45 nm, with an external additive toner surface area coverage of from about 25 to about 45%.

摘要: Toner particles comprise resin, wax and optionally colorants, and the wax is substantially excluded from the interior core of the toner particles. Processes for preparing such toner particles comprise providing an aqueous dispersion of resin particles and optionally colorants, mixing the aqueous dispersion in presence of a coagulant, aggregating to form particles, coalescing to form fused particles, and removing the fused particles from the aqueous dispersion. Wax dispersions can be added either after mixing or during aggregation, so that wax is excluded from the core of the toner particles.

In embodiments, the outermost layer is an overcoat layer used for an improved imaging member having a substrate, a charge transport layer, and an overcoat positioned on the charge transport layer.

Embodiments pertain to an improved electrophotographic imaging member used in customer replaceable units (CRU) comprising a very thin outer layer on the imaging member surface, where the outer layer comprises healing materials that act as a barrier against moisture and/or surface contaminants. The improved imaging member exhibits improved xerographic performance, such as reduced wear and deletions in high humidity conditions.
