    摘要: The present invention is a thorax phantom that enables simulation of tumor motion within a tissue equivalent material. The system consists of a tissue equivalent epoxy phantom representing a 15 cm axial section of the human thorax that includes simplified spine and lung anatomies. Within the phantom are thru rods of similar tissue density. The rods are attached to a computer-controlled actuator that facilitates both linear and rotational motion of the rods within the phantom. A plurality of tumor targets and radiation detectors can be placed within the rods at various locations thereby enabling the simulation of respiratory and cardiac induced tumor motions within the phantom and assessment of the effects of these motions on image acquisitions, treatment planning and radiation treatment delivery.

    摘要: A method of enhancing the operation of diesel fuel combustion systems in a combustion system includes supplying a fuel and additive that includes a manganese compound to a diesel fuel combustion system. The fuel is then combusted in the combustion chamber to produce at least one byproduct including the manganese compound. The manganese compound is supplied in an amount effective to complex with the combustion byproduct. The diesel fuel combustion system operation is enhanced by improving the attributes of lubricating oil loaded with the combustion byproduct soot particles.

    摘要: A testing apparatus for measuring the friction characteristics between two components in rolling or sliding contact with one another is disclosed herein. The testing apparatus includes a traction surface, a first support structure adapted to support the traction surface while allowing for rotation of the traction surface, and a drive mechanism to rotate the traction surface. The testing apparatus further includes a movable second support structure proximate to the first support structure and adapted to move a test material into contact with the traction surface. An attachment piece is mechanically fixed to the movable second support structure. The attachment piece is constructed to receive and hold the test material relative to the traction surface. The testing apparatus also includes a force measuring device adapted to measure the frictional forces produced between the test material and the traction surface.

The method includes providing an amount of an oil-soluble nanospherical component derived from a photo-crosslinkable poly(2-cinnamoyloxyalkyl acrylate) core and a diblock acrylate copolymer corona in a fully formulated lubricant composition containing a base oil of lubricating viscosity. The nanospherical component has a core diameter ranging from about 10 to about 100 nanometers. The lubricant composition containing the nanospherical component is applied to a surface to be lubricated.
