摘要:
An optical disc apparatus includes a fixed portion having a light source portion and a movable portion that holds an objective lens and moves along a radial direction of an optical disc. The fixed portion includes the light source portion for selectively emitting short and long wavelength laser beams, and a collimator lens for collimating the laser beams. The objective lens includes a positive refractive lens and a diffractive lens structure formed on a surface of the refractive lens. The diffractive lens structure has wavelength dependence such that spherical aberration varies in the undercorrected direction as wavelength of incident light increases. The objective lens converges the short wavelength laser beam of a predetermined diffraction order onto an informatlon layer of a thin cover type optical disc, and converges the long wavelength laser beam of the identical diffraction order onto an information layer of a thick cover type optical disc.

An objective lens system used in an optical system of an optical disk device. The objective lens system includes at least one lens element and converges light emitted from a light source onto a reflecting layer of an optical disk. The lens element has an offense against the sine condition OSC, and the optical disk has a substrate thickness T and a refractive index n. A ray of light exits the lens element and intersects an optical axis of the lens element at an angle .alpha.. The values of OSC, .alpha., n and T satisfy the following relationship for light rays that are incident on the objective lens system at distances from the optical axis of the objective lens system which are least equal to a predetermined percentage of an effective height of an aperture of the objective lens: ##EQU1## Accordingly, a spherical aberration of the optical system is corrected. An offense against the sine condition of only the objective lens is substantially coincident with a spherical aberration of the objective lens such that a coma of only the objective lens is corrected.

An optical system of an optical disc apparatus is disclosed for converging and projecting a bundle of rays emitted from a light source onto an optical disc. The optical system includes a collimating lens which collimates the bundle of rays emitted from the light source, two anamorphic prisms for shaping the cross section of the collimated bundle of rays transmitted through the collimating lens, and an objective lens which converges the bundle of rays shaped by the anamorphic prisms onto the optical disc. At least one of the anamorphic prisms is detachably mounted to an immovable body portion of the optical system.

A pump that includes a pump body 10 which sucks in air from an inlet 7 and discharges the air; a hydraulic pump which pressure-feeds a lubricating oil to the pump body 10 in accordance with the driving of the pump body 10; a non-return valve 70 which is disposed in a valve accommodation portion 6 between the inlet 7 and the pump body 10 to open and close the valve accommodation portion 6; an air introduction path 19 which introduces air into a cylinder 74 of the non-return valve 70; and an air introduction valve 60 which opens the air introduction path 19 when the hydraulic pump is not operating. When the pump body 10 is stopped, the non-return valve 70 closes the inlet 7 in response to a difference in pressure between the pressure of the valve accommodation portion 6 reduced to a value equal to or less than atmospheric pressure by the operation of the pump body 10, and the pressure of the air introduced into the cylinder 74 by the opening of the air introduction valve 60 owing to the stoppage of the hydraulic pump associated with the stoppage of the pump body 10.

There is provided an optical pick-up used for recording data to and/or reproducing data from at least three types of optical discs having at least two different thicknesses of cover layers. The optical pick-up includes light sources and an objective lens. A thickness t1 of a first optical disc, a thickness t2 of a second optical disc, and a thickness t3 of a third optical disc satisfy a relationship t1≦t2 NA3. Further, a first light beam for the first optical disc is incident on the objective lens as a converging light beam, and the second and third light beams for the second and third optical discs are incident on the objective lens as diverging light beams, respectively. Given that magnification of the objective lens is m1 when the first optical disc is used, magnification of the objective lens is m2 when the second optical disc is used, and magnification of the objective lens is m3 when the first optical disc is used, following conditions are satisfied: m1>0, m3

摘要:
An optical system for an optical head of an optical disc drive is capable of using first and second discs, protective layer of the second disc being thicker than that of the first disc, a data density of the second disc being lower than that of the first disc. A light source selectively emits first and second laser beams having first and second wavelengths, respectively. An objective lens converges the first and second beams on the first and second discs, respectively. The second beam is incident on the objective lens as diverging light, and the first beam is incident on the objective lens as a beam of which degree of divergence is smaller. A diffraction lens structure is formed in the high NA exclusive area, which compensates for aberrations of a portion of the first laser beam, and causes aberrations to a portion of the second laser beam passed therethrough.
