[Problem] The object is to provide a resin film for metal sheet laminate which endures severe forming owing to excellent formability and impact resistance, and also to excellent adhesion after forming and heating, further gives stable performance independent of forming conditions, and also provides a laminated metal sheet, and a method for manufacturing the same.[Means for Resolution] The resin film for metal sheet laminate has a mixed resin in which a granular resin mainly existing in a state of grains having 0.1 to 5 μm in diameter is dispersed in a polyester resin having a main basic skeleton of polyethylene terephthalate and/or isophthalic acid copolymerized polyethylene terephthalate, in a range from 3 to 30% by weight in entire resin. The granular resin is a modified polyolefin resin containing a functional group derived from carboxylic acid in a range from 2 to 20% by weight as carboxylic acid.

The laminated metal sheet for can end is formed by laminating polyester film on both sides thereof, thus providing excellent appearance after retorting. The polyester film laminated to a side to become outer face of the formed can end has (1) half-time of crystallization of the resin of amorphous polyester layer formed near the interface between the polyester film and the metal sheet of 40 seconds or smaller at 130° C., (2) thickness of the amorphous polyester layer from 0.5 to 8 μm, (3) water vapor transmissivity of the polyester film of 100 g/m2/24 hr or smaller. The amorphous polyester layer resin is preferably a polyester composition prepared by formulating a polyester (I) (30 to 60% by weight) composed mainly of ethylene terephthalate as the main repeating unit, and a polyester (II) (40 to 70% by weight) composed mainly of butylene terephthalate as the main repeating unit.

An easy-open end which comprises a steel sheet and formed on at least one side thereof an about 10-30 mum-thick coating film of a polyester resin having a 50% crystallization time of about 5 minutes or shorter and a coefficient of planar orientation of about 0.04 or lower and which has a groove for cutting which has a cross section having a radius of curvature of about 0.1 to 1 mm; and a laminated steel sheet for use in the easy-open end. This easy-open end can combine suitability for opening and no need of repair even when the residual score thickness is small.

In a method for producing a two-piece can, a circular disk of a laminated steel sheet having a thermoplastic resin coating layer is subjected to multistage forming to produce a final formed body having a height h, a maximum radius r, and a minimum radius d (the case where r is equal to d is also included). Forming is performed so that the height h, maximum radius r, and minimum radius d of the final formed body satisfy the relationships 0.1≦d/R≦0.25 and 1.5≦h/(R−r)≦4 with respect to a radius R of a circular disk before forming whose weight is equal to that the final formed body. At an intermediate stage of forming, a formed body is subjected to heat treatment at a temperature of not less than a melting point of a thermoplastic resin but not more than a temperature 30° C. higher than the melting point.

We manufacture a two-piece can by the method using a laminated steel sheet as the base material, having the steps of: drawing a cylindrical blank for several times to form a can body in a shape of cylinder integrated with bottom; forming a tapered part extending outward from the can body in the radial direction thereof at the tip of the opening of the can body; applying diametral reduction to the tapered part to the diameter of the can body; and applying diametral reduction to the opening side of the can body to a diameter smaller than the diameter of the can body, while satisfying the formulae (1) and (2), 1.5≦h/(R−R) (1) d/R≦0.25 (2) where h is the height from the can bottom to the tip of the opening, R is the circular blank positional radius, r is the radius of the can bottom, and d is the radius of the tip of the opening.

A open can end of laminated steel sheet has a score formed thereon by a scoring die. The scoring die has a scoring edge having a sectional shape of an inverted triangle. The scoring edge includes a tip formed of a curve having a radius of curvature of 0.2 mm or more and 0.4 mm or less. Two sides sandwiching the tip are tangent to the curve. A function tan θ of an angle of elevation θ of each of the sides with respect to a surface of the can end is 0.3 or more and 1.0 or less. The resultant a can end being an easy open can end.
