摘要: A method and apparatus for applying a magnetic liquid to a moving web by using an extruder head for ejecting the magnetic liquid onto the web. A by-pass line for returning the liquid to a feed source through a changeover valve is provided immediately upstream to the extruder head. The liquid is supplied to the by-pass line through the valve after the extruder head is filled with the liquid before the first starting of the application or the resumption thereof. The position of the valve is shifted at the time of the first starting of the application or the resumption thereof so as to supply the liquid to the head to perform the application.

摘要: A method and apparatus for applying a magnetic liquid to a moving web by using an extruder head for ejecting the magnetic liquid onto the web. 摘要: A process for preparing a magnetic recording medium utilizing an improved coating method. This coating method includes steps of coating a solvent of the same composition as that used in preparation of a magnetic coating solution or one compatible therewith on a continuously running non-magnetic support to prepare a precoat layer of the solvent, and then coating the magnetic recording solution on the precoat layer while the precoat layer is wet. This improved coating method prevents air from being entrained in the magnetic recording solution and thus permits to produce a very thin magnetic recording layer to be formed on the support with high efficiency.

摘要: A method for uniformly coating a moving substrate by eliminating nonuniformities in the voscosity of the coating solution along the line where the solution is applied to the substrate. A viscosity-varying region is provided either inside or outside of a coating solution pocket in an extruder assembly. In one embodiment, the voscosity-varying region is provided by making the length of a slit through which the coating solution flows onto the support less than that of the pocket. In another embodiment, the viscosity-varying region takes the form of small-diameter tube through which the coating solution is supplied to one end of the pocket. In a third embodiment, a roller is disposed in the pocket and the diameter of the roller and the pocket are tapered towards the center. In a still further embodiment, the solution is supplied through a distributor.

摘要: An application device for applying a coating liquid to a moving web which forms an applied layer of uniform thickness and with smooth surface properties. The sides of a slotted portion of an extrusion-type application head are provided with sloped or stepped portions in regions adjacent liquid-free areas of the web. This prevents scratching of the web and accumulation of extraneous matter at the edge portions of the application head.

The mold includes a first half; a second half; and a plurality of aligning members which contact respective outer circumferential surfaces of a first die of the first half and a second die of the second half, at least in three directions, when the mold is closed. At least one of the aligning members is moved toward the outer circumferential surfaces of the first die and the second die, and then each of the aligning members sandwiches the first die and the second die, which enables a center axis alignment between the first die and the second die.

摘要: A coating method and an extrusion-type coating head in which turbulence at the junction between two flows of coating materials is prevented to provide multi-layer simultaneous coating over a wide range of coating rates and with a good coating quality. An intermediate block is sandwiched between a rear block defining a back edge and a front block defining a doctor edge. Two coating flows pass through slits formed on either side of the intermediate block, joining at the top end of the intermediate block and flowing together into a short slot extending between the end of the intermediate block and the outlet of the head.
