摘要： Provided is a power saving control method and system for data storage devices or electrical equipment. Herein, data items are divided into groups according to required response times or access frequencies. The groups of data items are allocated to data storage devices or pieces of electrical equipment. A data storage device or electrical equipment to which data that may be accessed using a long response time at a low access frequency is set to a power-saving mode of a higher level. Consequently, the data storage devices or pieces of electrical equipment are provided with power-saving features of different levels. Eventually, energy saving can be achieved more efficiently.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of light sources emitting beams of light, a photoconductor, a scanner for reflecting the beams of light emitted by the light sources to scan the photoconductor periodically, a light detector for receiving the beams of light from the scanner to determine a beam pitch between the beams of light, the light detector being provided in a part of an optical path between the scanner and the photoconductor, a beam shifter for shifting the beams of light incident on the scanner from the light sources, and a controller for operating the beam shifter so that the beam pitch determined by the light detector becomes a predetermined value.

摘要： A compact type bar code reader for detecting a bar code symbol provided on a surface of an article. The bar code reader includes a laser beam generation unit for generating the laser beam to be irradiated onto a bar code symbol, and a focus unit for determining a focus of the laser beam, and a scanning pattern forming unit for forming various scanning patterns of the laser beam. The bar code reader also includes a light reflection unit for reflecting the laser beam to and from the bar code symbol, a light collection unit for collecting the laser beam reflected from the bar code symbol, and a light reception unit for receiving the laser beam collected by the light collection unit, and converting it to an electrical signal. The above units are included in a casing so that the laser beam generation unit, the focus unit, the light collection unit, and the light reception unit are arranged at a lower portion of the casing, and the scanning pattern forming unit and light reception unit are arranged at a lower portion of the casing. The light path of the laser beam is formed in such a way that an emitted light path from the laser beam generation unit to the bar code symbol becomes considerably long, and a reflected light path from the bar code symbol to the light reception unit becomes shorter than the emitted light path.

摘要： An optical beam scanner, for reading a bar-code, which comprises a housing (10) accommodating therein a beam generator (1) for projecting a laser beam (34) along a fixed axis, a rotary mirror (30, 40) rotatable about its axis (32) and having a plurality of reflection surfaces (30a, 30b) arranged in a polygonal manner on the periphery of a body thereof, which surfaces receive and reflect the laser beam (34) projected from the beam generator (1), and a unit for driving the rotary mirror (30) to rotate at a predetermined speed during the operation. The housing is provided with a window (21) on an upper wall thereof, through which passes the laser beam (35) reflected from the respective reflection surfaces (30a, 30b) of the rotary mirror (30) for scanning a bar-code disposed above the window (21), and each of the reflection surfaces (30a, 30b) of the rotary mirror (30) is formed by a part of a circular cylindrical surface cut out along a height thereof in an elongated rectangular shape and disposed so that a ridgeline (33) is transverse to the axis (32) of the rotary mirror (30). A direction of a normal vector to the reflection surface (30a, 30b) is smoothly varied in one direction along a scanning line (X) on the reflection surface (30a, 30b) traced by sequential points of incidence of the laser beam (34) across the reflection surface (30a, 30b) when the rotary mirror (30) is rotated, whereby the reflected beam (35) traces various linear scanning patterns (A, B), each corresponding to the respective reflection surface (30a, 30b), on a plane of the window (21) above which the bar-code is scanned.

The system uses a main controller, a rail-path, a carrier adapted to be driven along the rail-path by linear motor drive, and a plurality of stator portions coupled to the rail-path to produce a driving force in association with the carrier. Each of the stator portions includes a stator controller for controlling the driving of the carrier. The stator controller controls the driving of the carrier passing the stator portion to which the stator controller belongs to cause the carrier to reach a destination stator portion.
