摘要: An image forming apparatus of non-contact developing method using two-component developer material which is capable of obtaining a clear image free from fogging, ghost and toner contamination. The image forming apparatus has at least one developing unit which includes a developing roll and a magnetic roll, the developing unit develops an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive body with a toner thin layer formed on the surface of a developing roll wherein a toner thin layer forming region on the developing roll is smaller than a magnetic brush forming region on the magnetic roll. A high resistivity region is adjacent each end of the toner thin layer forming region on the developing roll. A control device controls a developer material replenishment and controls the biasing to the developing roll and magnetic roll.

摘要: The present invention relates to an image forming process and an image forming apparatus, which have a refresh means which refreshes the developing sleeve by allowing the toner on the developing sleeve to jump toward the photoreceptor drum when transfer to recording medium is not done. Refresh is performed by applying an AC bias between the photoreceptor drum and the developing sleeve. The number of dots of latent image corresponding to actual image pattern is counted and the ratio of this number of dots to the number of dots corresponding to full black original image is defined as print rate, and cumulative average print rate is calculated each time when a page or a predetermined number of pages is printed. When the average print rate falls short of proper print rate, refresh is performed. It is suitable to set several proper print rate, and the duration of application of the AC bias is varied according to the average print rate. It is also effective to apply AC bias for refresh higher in effective voltage than applied for developing. It is also effective to prevent “fog” by applying transfer reverse bias to transfer part until the toner on the photoreceptor passes the transfer part and transfer positive bias after cleaning of the toner on the photoreceptor is finished. Generally, when an image forming apparatus is used for an extended period of time or when low print rate original image is copied in large quantity, deterioration such as reduction in print density and “fog” is liable to occur. According to the present invention, even if images of low print rate is copied in large quantity, deterioration does not occur.

摘要: A developing apparatus employing a three-pole stationary magnetic roller for use with a uni-component magnetic developer or toner. The apparatus includes a rotational sleeve which accommodates the stationary roller, a mixer disposed in a toner vessel for stirring the toner, and a toner layer thickness regulator disposed upstream in the sleeve rotation direction from the developing position at which the image on a photo-sensitive drum is developed. The magnetic roller has a developing pole located near the developing position, a blade-facing pole facing the toner layer thickness regulator, and a shield pole located downstream in the sleeve rotation direction from the developing position, where the blade-facing pole and the shield pole are of the opposite polarity to the developing pole. The blade-facing pole and the shield pole generate a repulsive magnetic field therebetween, where the toner that has been stirred in the vessel comes in contact with the sleeve.
