摘要: In a particle measurement method and apparatus, a laser beam is directed into a fluid and the intensity of light scattered by fine particles floating in the fluid is detected by a light receiving system to determine the particle diameter. A ratio of light scattering efficiency of the particles in the fluid to that in a standard fluid is determined on the base of the refractive index of the fluid in use. The particle diameter is corrected depending upon the ratio of light scattering efficiency by correcting a set value for discriminating the particle diameter or by correcting the intensity of the detected scattered light. This compensates for errors arising from the difference of the refractive index of the fluid containing the particle to be measured and assures a high accuracy in measuring the particle size.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a head-up display apparatus and a cover-mirror unit used for the same.A movable member 3′ of the cover-mirror unit stands up along a flat inner wall 1a1 of a housing 1a when the head-up display apparatus is in use, and lie down to cover an opening of the housing 1a when the head-up display apparatus is not in use for carrying out an up/down operation. In particular, through the down operation, by a link mechanism, a bottom end of the movable member is gradually moved upward by following the inner wall 1a1 of the housing 1a. Therefore, though the movable member 3′ stands up along the inner wall 1a1 of the housing 1a when the head-up display apparatus is in use, the movable member 3′ never interferes with the inner wall 1a1 through the up/down operation.

摘要: Providing a head-up display apparatus capable of receiving a mirror, which projects from a line of an instrument panel when in use, without increasing a receiving section and spoiling a beauty of the instrument panel, and a mirror unit used in the same, a mirror is rotated about an axis perpendicular to a reflecting surface of the mirror so as to project a part of the mirror from the opening when in use, and take in the projected part of the mirror down within the opening when not in use. Thus, the whole mirror can be received in the receiving section only by rotational motion.

摘要: A meter for a motor vehicle includes a meter case 4 for protecting components of the meter which are incorporated therein, and a front cover 9 composed of a prism which is a part of a convex lens and provided in front of the meter case 4. A dial plate 5 of the meter has an outer contour in a substantially elliptical shape so that a virtual image of the dial plate as seen through the front cover 9 may look like a substantially perfect circle. Since the virtual image of the dial plate 5 is expanded in a vertical direction due to magnification inherent in the prism 9, the dial plate 5 formed in a substantially elliptical shape will be deformed into a substantially perfect circle in sight.

摘要: The object is to display an image projected by a display device, installed in a vehicle dashboard, for displaying an information data in the optimum field of vision for a driver and to make a driver recognize visually. Projected light (image) by a liquid crystal display 12 is polarized (horizontal polarization) by a polarizing plate 12a mounted on the surface of the liquid crystal display 12 and reaches the first polarizing plate 9 through a prism 11. Since the polarizing direction of the first polarizing plate 9 is perpendicular to that of the polarizing plate 12a, the projected image is reflected toward a eye position 6 by the first polarizing plate 9. External incident light on the area AR1, limited by the first polarizing plate 9, is polarized (vertical polarization) by passing the first polarizing plate 9. When the vertical polarized external light goes through the prism 11, the external light is attenuated by the horizontally polarizing plate 12a in front of the liquid crystal display 12 and then the external incident light is cut off on the liquid crystal display.

摘要: A display apparatus has a first image emitting unit reflecting external light and a second image emitting unit emitting a second image towards the first image emitting unit. The second image is reflected by the first image emitting unit substantially in the same direction as the first image is emitted from the first image emitting unit. A reflection member reflects the first and second images in a predetermined direction, for example, towards a viewpoint of driver in case of application for automobiles. The reflected images may be observed as a superimposed virtual image. The superimposed virtual image is easy for an observer to focus thereon, resulting in high visibility of displayed image.

摘要: An indication display unit for a vehicle provides a driver with a circular meter indication by an analog meter having a scale disposed along with a circumference and an indication needle disposed inside the circumference, which is made in consideration not only from the function's point of view as is conventionally done, but also from the view point of the decorative design as well so as to produce many user's long-awaited new type of interesting meter indication. In the indication display unit according to the present invention, since a circular meter indication of an analog meter is optically converted to an oval shape by use of either a positive cylindrical lens, a negative cylindrical lens or a concave reflecting member having a different magnification rate between the longitudinal direction and lateral direction which are respectively disposed facing the indication surface of the analog meter, the indication observed through a prism reflecting member disposed between the above optical materials and the analog meter is such that the indication needle extends or reduces in accordance with the rotated angle thereof making an oval-shaped image of the analog meter, so that quite interesting and tasteful meter indication is thereby offered.
