摘要: A transparent vessel is filled with a mixture solution containing a first photo-curable resin of a low refractive index and a second photo-curable resin of a high refractive index different in curing mechanism. When light at a wavelength capable of curing the first photo-curable resin but incapable of curing the second photo-curable resin is applied to the mixture solution through an optical fiber, the first photo-curable resin can be cured in a state in which the second photo-curable resin is enclosed in the cured first photo-curable resin. Because the refractive index increases according to curing, a self-condensing phenomenon can be generated so that an optical path portion is formed. The optical path portion emits leakage light to its surroundings to thereby form an outer circumferential portion. Then, all uncured resins in the mixture solution are cured. The outer circumferential portion containing a high percentage of the cured first photo-curable resin serves as a clad because the refractive index of the outer circumferential portion is lower than that of the optical path portion.

摘要: Into a mixture solution 2 of a high-refractive-index photo-curable resin A and a low-refractive-index photo-curable resin B, light capable of curing only the resin A is led through an optical fiber 1 so that a cured resin 211 of the resin A having a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of a core portion of the optical fiber is formed so as to extend from a tip of the optical fiber. Then, the residual mixture solution 2 is cured. In this manner, a module having the previously cured high-refractive-index resin 211 as an optical waveguide can be formed easily. On this occasion, the mixed state of the mixture solution 2 can be kept good enough to facilitate the formation of the high-refractive-index resin 211 when the solubility parameter δA of the high-refractive-index photo-curable resin A and the solubility parameter δB and volume fraction ΦB of the low-refractive-index photo-curable resin B satisfy the following expression (4). |δA−δB|

摘要: In a contact for a connector, a metal material id processed to be bent in a predetermined shape in a manner so that a terminal portion is formed in the vicinity of an end and a contacting portion is formed in the vicinity of the other end. A nickel plating layer as a foundation plating layer and a gold plating layer are formed on substantially entire surface of the contact including the terminal portion and the contacting portion. Laser beams are irradiated at a portion between the terminal portion and the contacting portion, and especially in the vicinity of the terminal portion so that the nickel plating layer as the foundation plating layer is unsheathed by removing the gold plating layer or gold in the gold plating layer and nickel in the foundation layer are alloyed. Nickel and the alloy of nickel and gold respectively have low wetting property with respect to solder, so that diffusion of melted solder stops at the portion.

摘要: The present invention relates to an improvement in an exhaust system structure for a motorcycle. A motorcycle has an engine disposed between front and rear wheels, an exhaust pipe extending from the engine, and a silencer connected to the exhaust pipe for discharging exhaust gases. The silencer, which is a heavy object, is of the type having a gas outlet disposed near a gas inlet. The silencer is disposed below the engine with the gas inlet facing toward the rear wheel, and the exhaust pipe extends to a position near the rear wheel and is connected to the gas inlet of the silencer. By elongating the length of the exhaust pipe and placing the silencer under the engine, the exhaust system performs sufficiently with high output engines, while at the same time lowers the center of gravity of a motorcycle body and balances the weight of the motorcycle body in its longitudinal direction.

摘要: A lead member includes a plurality of conductors arranged in parallel and an insulating film fixing the conductors at a predetermined pitch. Each conductor includes a first end portion, a second end portion, and a flat portion extending between the first and second end portions. The flat portion is located on a plane different from a plane on which the first end portion and the second end portion lie. The flat portion may be formed by bending the lead member along a bent line such that the bent line is kept straight. Preferably, each conductor includes a narrow portion and a wide portion, wherein a width of each conductor along the bent line is greater than half of the pitch between adjacent conductors.

摘要: An infrared detector includes a circuit block carrying an infrared sensor element and electronic components. The circuit block is composed of a dielectric resin layer and a first substrate formed with a circuit pattern and mounting the electronic components. The dielectric resin layer is formed in its top with a recess which defines around its periphery with a shoulder for supporting opposite ends of the infrared sensor. The first substrate is integrated to the lower end of the dielectric resin layer with at least one of the electronic components being molded into the dielectric resin layer to make the circuit block of a unified mold structure. Thus, a part or all of the electronic components are molded into the dielectric layer to realize the circuit block of a simple and low profile structure, while retaining an advantage of keeping the infrared sensor element sufficiently away from the electronic components and an associated electronic circuit, thereby assuring to give the infrared detector which is simple in construction, economical in cost, and reliable in the infrared detection.

摘要: An electrodeionization apparatus is provided, in which enough electric current flows even when voltage applied between the electrodes is low, thereby sufficiently performing deionization. A single first cation exchange membrane, a single anion exchange membrane, a single second cation exchange membrane are arranged between a cathode and an anode so that a concentration-cathode compartment, a desalting compartment, a concentrating compartment, and an anode compartment are formed, in this order, between the cathode and the anode. The concentration-cathode compartment and the anode compartment are filled with a cation exchange resin, respectively. The desalting compartment is filled with a mixture of the cation exchange resin and an anion exchange resin. Fed into the anode compartment is raw water or deionized water. Water from the anode compartment is sent to the concentrating compartment and the concentration-cathode compartment sequentially.
