    摘要: Disclosed is an anhydrous topical antiperspirant composition comprising a dermatologically acceptable carrier and a perspiration reducing effective amount of a particulate antiperspirant salt suspended in the carrier. The antiperspirant salt comprises an aluminum-zirconium chlorohydrate having a metal to chloride ratio between about 0.9 and about 1.3. The composition also includes, separate from the antiperspirant salt, a stabilizing basic material in an amount sufficient to prevent degradation of the antiperspirant composition or to minimize acid odor. Also disclosed is a method of reducing perspiration from human skin by applying the aforementioned topical composition.

    摘要: Disclosed is a liquid aqueous alcoholic antiperspirant composition comprising, by weight, about 10% to about 60% ethanol, water, and about 8% to about 22% (USP) antiperspirant salt dissolved in the composition, wherein said antiperspirant salt comprises a calcium enhanced aluminum-zirconium chlorohydrate. The composition may optionally include a thickening agent to increase the viscosity of the solution. A more viscous solution is less prone to dripping from the skin or leaking from the dispensing container. Ideally, the composition will provide an absolute sweat reduction significantly higher than currently available antiperspirant products, typically at least 60% sweat reduction or higher.

    摘要: The present invention relates to methods of making enhanced efficacy antiperspirant salts and particularly stabilized aqueous polyhydric alcohol solutions of such salts. One such method involves stabilizing an aqueous solution of an enhanced efficacy antiperspirant salt by adding an effective amount of a polyhydric alcohol having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms and from 3 to 6 hydroxyl groups. A second disclosed method involves preparing an enhanced efficacy aluminum antiperspirant salt by heating an aqueous solution of an aluminum antiperspirant salt in the presence of a polyhydric alcohol having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms and from 3 to 6 hydroxyl groups at a temperature of at least 50.degree. C. for a time sufficient to convert the salt to an enhanced salt. A third disclosed method is an improvement in the method of making an aluminum hydroxy halide or an aluminum hydroxy nitrate by reacting aluminum with an aqueous solution of aluminum halide or aluminum nitrate (or with aqueous hydrogen halide or nitric acid), wherein the improvement comprises including a polyhydric alcohol having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms and from 3 to 6 hydroxyl groups in the reaction mixture. Also disclosed are compositions produced by the foregoing methods.

The emulsion includes a water phase, typically comprising about 65% to about 95% by weight of the emulsion, and a silicone oil phase, typically comprising about 5% to about 35% by weight of the emulsion. The water phase includes an antiperspirant salt dissolved therein, typically in an amount of about 8% to about 30% by weight of the emulsion, the antiperspirant salt comprising a calcium enhanced aluminum-zirconium chlorohydrate. The silicone oil phase contains less than about 5% by weight of the emulsion of a non-volatile oil and includes about 2% to about 25% by weight of the emulsion of a volatile linear silicone.
