摘要: An API for prefetching map data receives a prefetch request for an indicated geographic area from a software application. In response, the API retrieves map data corresponding to the indicated geographic area from a map data provider and stores the map data in a map data cache without causing a digital map based on the map data to be displayed on the display device. The map data cache is accessible to the software application only via the API. Subsequently to storing the map data in the map data cache, the API receives a request to render the digital map from the software application and, in response to the request to render the map image, renders the map image for display on a display device using the map data stored in the map data cache.

摘要: An electronic device includes a requesting application and a hosting application. When the requesting application requests permission from the hosting application to access a category of data, the device identifies the requesting application and the permission request. The device awaits a user input to determine whether the user will permit the requesting application's request to be granted.

摘要: An interface for a fire alarm system having a number of alarm condition detectors (11, 12, 13), a number of alarm devices such as alarm sounders (2) and the like and a fire alarm panel (1). The interface includes a fire alarm silence controller (4) and input and output circuits (7) and (8) connected to the controller. The input circuit includes one of the detectors (11) and the output circuit, one of the alarm sounders (2). Each fire alarm silence controller (4) has a timer and a user operable device for turning off the alarm device activated by the detector. The fire alarm system is provided for a plurality of individual dwellings and each dwelling has its own interface. When a detector in one dwelling is triggered to an alarm state the corresponding fire alarm silence controller operates the corresponding alarm device but does not signal an alarm condition to the fire alarm panel.

摘要: An audio distribution system comprises a plurality of individual signal conditioning circuits connected in series. Each circuit comprises a signal conditioning unit to which an audio input (13) is fed. The output from the unit is fed to a precision signal addition device. Each circuit also comprises a balanced line level input (11), which is fed to a balanced to unbalanced precision signal converter the output of which is connected to the precision signal addition device. The output from the precision signal addition C device is fed to an unbalanced to balanced converter which provides at its output a balanced line level signal (12). As compared with a conventional distribution system, the system enables only one balanced line level input to amplification equipment eliminating any mixing or control means that equipment and obtaining the need for a conventional mixer.

摘要: A mobile computing device is authenticated to a user using an NFC tag embedded within or attached to an object that is commonly carried or worn by the user. The NFC tag may be initially associated when an NFC reader of the device senses the NFC tag and wirelessly retrieves a tag identifier from the tag. The tag identifier is stored for subsequent retrieval. The authentication process begins by positioning the device proximate the object such that the NFC reader of the device retrieves the tag identifier from the NFC tag. In the event that the retrieved tag identifier matches the stored tag identifier, the mobile computing device is unlocked and the user may access the mobile computing device. If the retrieved tag identifier does not match the stored tag identifier, the user is not authenticated and the mobile computing device remains locked.
