摘要： A blow-molded container including a finish and a base. The finish defines an opening at a first end of the container that provides access to an internal volume. The base includes a diaphragm and a standing surface. The diaphragm extends radially outward from a central push-up portion. The standing surface of the container is at a second end of the container. In response to an internal vacuum caused by hot-filling and closing the container, the diaphragm is configured to move passively from an as-blown first configuration to a second configuration in which the diaphragm is closer to the first end of the container as compared to the as-blown first configuration. The diaphragm is configured to move from the second configuration to an activated third configuration in which the diaphragm is closer to the first end of the container in response to the diaphragm being externally actuated by a tool.

摘要： A plastic container having a longitudinal axis includes an upper portion that defines an opening into the container and a sidewall portion that extends from the upper portion in a longitudinal direction parallel to the longitudinal axis. The container also includes a base portion that extends from the sidewall portion and that closes off the container. The upper portion further includes a rim member, a neck member that extends in the longitudinal direction away from the rim member, and a shoulder member that extends from the neck to the sidewall portion. The shoulder member extends at an acute angle relative to a transverse plane that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The upper portion also includes at least one reinforcing member that extends in the longitudinal direction between the rim member and the shoulder member. The reinforcing member projects outwardly from the neck member.

摘要： An apparatus and method for forming a plastic container is provided. The method includes disposing a preform into a primary mold cavity and applying pressurized air to urge the preform to conform to the shape of the primary mold cavity to form a primary article. The primary article is then permitted to shrink to a predetermined volume. The method can further include exposing the primary article to an internal vacuum to facilitate shrinking to a predetermined volume. The method further includes disposing the primary article into a second mold cavity and applying pressurized air to urge the primary article to conform to the second mold cavity to form an intermediate article. Finally, at least a portion of the intermediate article is trimmed off to form a final container.

The sidewall portion includes an upper vacuum absorbing region joined to a lower vacuum absorbing region at a reduced waist section. The reduced waist section forms a minor container diameter which is less than the major container diameter. In some embodiments, such configuration forms an hourglass, heat-set container, wherein the upper vacuum absorbing region and the lower vacuum absorbing region are collectively shaped to provide flexible absorption of an internal vacuum within the receptacle chamber.
