摘要: An electronic timepiece having hands incorporates a correction system whereby the user can rapidly and easily check that the operations of the hands are synchronized, and can adjust the state of synchronization if necessary, by initiating an operating mode in which the hands should rotate to indicate a predetermined reference time value. 摘要: A display device incorporating an electrochromic display cell is provided with means whereby each segment electrode of the electrochromic display cell can be set into a completely electrically isolated state after a condition of coloration of a corresponding display element has been established. Since no leakage current is permitted to flow between the segment electrode and the drive transistors coupled thereto, a charge is stored on the segment electrode which maintains the coloration condition over a considerably longer period of time than has been possible hitherto, thus enabling an electrochromic display device to be realized having a very low level of power consumption.

摘要: An electronic timepiece is provided with a temperature compensation system which combines precise control of the timebase oscillator circuit frequency over a narrow temperature range with control of the frequency divider circuit operation to provide relatively large step changes in compensation, thereby providing accurate temperature compensation over a very wide temperature range. Data for control of this compensation is produced by computing the square of a data value which varies proportionally with temperature, with the resultant data being adjusted to provided compensation control which exactly matches the temperature characteristic of the timebase oscillator circuit.

摘要: A miniature digital electronic timepiece is disclosed which destroys time information in a continuously laterally shifting manner upon a matrix type display, such that more than one digit and less than two digits are visible at any particular instant. The category of information currently displayed, e.g. minutes or hours, is indicated by an identification mark, and the currently displayed digits can be halted and made completely visible, through size reduction, by actuation of a correction switch. Correction of the now stationary digits can then be accomplished by further switch actuation, so that time information correction is simple and rapid, even if only a single external operating member is utilized.

摘要: In a multi-layer display device such as a liquid crystal display, each of a plurality of sets of display elements is defined by a corresponding common electrode and a plurality of segment electrodes. Segment electrodes of sets of display elements which will not be activated simultaneously are connected together, with at least one of these sets being maintained in a deactivated state by means of a special drive signal applied to the corresponding common electrode. The level of time-sharing which must be utilized for driving the various common electrodes, for a given number of external connections to the segment electrodes, can thereby be reduced, or the overall number of connections made to the display device can be substantially reduced.

摘要: In a matrix type of liquid crystal display panel, in which an individual switching element is provided on the panel for each of the display elements, the electrodes of each display element comprise a first comb-shaped electrode pattern, to which a display signal voltage is applied through a switching element, and a second comb-shaped electrode pattern which is held at a reference potential, with the first and second comb-shaped patterns being mutually intermeshed and formed upon a single substrate of the panel, whereby application of a display signal voltage causes an electric field to be produced in a direction substantially parallel to the substrate plane to thereby act upon the liquid crystal, rather than in a direction normal to the substrate plane as in the case of a conventional type of liquid crystal display panel.
