    摘要: In a display device, pixel electrodes I, II and III corresponding to color filters R, G and B are coupled to TFTs which are turned on in accordance with signals on gate lines G, and the drain (source) of the TFT coupled to the pixel electrode II is connected with the source (drain) of the TFT coupled to the pixel electrode III. A signal voltage is written in the pixel electrode I when the gate line G1a is in the “on” state, a signal voltage is written in the pixel electrode II when the gate line G1b is in the “on” state, and a signal voltage is written in the pixel electrode III when the gate lines G1a and G1b are both in the “on” state. Signal voltages are written in the pixel electrodes III, I and II in this order mentioned.

    摘要: In a screen configuration in which pixels are in a delta arrangement, video signal lines are formed on every other pixel, and two scanning lines in one set are disposed, transmittance of the screen is improved. Pixels corresponding to a red pixel (R), a green pixel (G), and a blue pixel (B) are disposed in a delta arrangement in a TFT substrate. A red color filter, a green color filter, a blue color filter are formed, in a counter substrate, corresponding to the red pixel (R), the green pixel (G), and the blue pixel (B) of the TFT substrate. A black matrix is formed to a portion where the color filter is not present. Two blue color filters are formed continuously adjacent each other in the first direction, and a black matrix is not formed between the blue color filters adjacent each other.

    摘要: A display device for use in compact portable devices is configured for assigning gray levels according to the pixel area ratio and, further includes a digital-to-analog (D-A) conversion circuit for converting digital data to gray-level voltage or analog signals. This configuration reduces the size of the circuit for D-A conversion, thus reducing the space for the driving circuit when assigning gray levels according to the pixel area ratio. The combination of the gray-level voltage output from the driving circuit and the gray-level assignment according to the pixel area ratio reduces the scale of the circuit.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device and method includes a pair of substrates with liquid crystal sandwiched therebetween, a plurality of intersecting scanning signal lines and image signal lines, a thin film transistor formed corresponding to each intersection, a pixel electrode which is formed in a pixel region and connected to the thin film transistor, a gate insulating film, and a protective insulating film. At least one of the scanning signal lines and the image signal lines are each formed of a laminated film including a first layer and a second layer, wherein the first layer is formed of a copper film having a purity of at least 99.5%, and the second layer is formed of an alloy film containing copper as a main component. The first layer and the second layer are collectively subjected to wet etching with an etchant having a predetermined pH.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device used in miniaturized portable equipment includes a distribution circuit corresponding to a circuit scale of a drive circuit to cope with a high-definition multi-grayscale display. A liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal display element and a liquid crystal drive circuit includes a distribution circuit which distributes a drive circuit output to a plurality of video signal lines within one scanning period. The distribution circuit is divided into a plurality of distribution circuits, and control signals are supplied to each distribution circuit from both end portions of the each distribution circuit. When an output part of the drive circuit is configured with a high withstand-voltage output amplifier and a low withstand-voltage output amplifier alternately connected with the distribution circuit, master and slave functions are imparted to the drive circuit allowing the drive circuit to cope with odd-numbered outputs.

    摘要: An alignment film is given a 2-layer structure comprising a photoalignment film that is photoalignable and a low-resistivity alignment film whose resistivity is smaller than that of the photoalignment film. The photoalignment film is formed by a polyimide whose precursor is polyamide acid alkyl ester, the number molecular weight of the photoalignment film is large, and the stability of alignment of the photoalignment film by photoalignment is excellent. The low-resistivity alignment film is formed by a polyimide whose precursor is polyamide acid, the number molecular weight of the low-resistivity alignment film is small, and the resistivity of the low-resistivity alignment film is small. The 2-layer structure alignment film can be maintaining an excellent photoalignment characteristic, so DC afterimages can be controlled.

    摘要: In a liquid crystal display device that uses a top gate TFT, a contact hole is formed to connect to an image signal line. An inorganic passivation film and an organic passivation film are formed in this order so as to cover the TFT, on which a common electrode is formed. Then, an interlayer insulating film is formed on the common electrode. A through hole for gas release is formed in the interlayer insulating film. The diameter of the through hole is greater than the diameter of the contact hole, so as to be able to easily release gas from the organic passivation film, and to prevent the interlayer insulating film from peeling off.
