摘要： Diffusion transfer photographic color processes and products are described utilizing novel image dye-providing materials which provide image dyes having the chromophoric system represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein X is ##STR2## or --SO.sub.2 --R.sub.1 ; Z is H, alkyl or aryl; R is H, alkyl or aryl; DYE is any dye moiety; R.sub.1 is H, alkyl, aryl, --NH.sub.2, --NHR.sub.2, --N(R.sub.2).sub.2 or --OR.sub.2 ; R.sub.2 is H, alkyl or aryl; and m is 1 or 2. The image dye providing material includes a diffusion control moiety such as a hydroquinonyl group or a precursor thereof and may be diffusible or nondiffusible as a function of the diffusion control moiety.

摘要： An improved liquid crystal display includes, in sequence from the viewing surface to the medial plane of the display, a substantially transparent polymeric layer, a polarizing layer, a protective layer, a transparent electrode layer, an alignment layer, and a layer of liquid crystal material. The use of a polymeric layer with a polarizing layer intermediate the polymeric layer and the liquid crystal material results in a relatively lower cost display in which the optical anisotropy of the polymeric material does not adversely affect the operation of the liquid crystal display.

摘要： A class of polyesters comprising recurring units having certain bis(trifluoromethyl)biphenylene radicals is disclosed. The polyesters exhibit favorable solubility properties in certain organic solvents so as to facilitate the production of the polyesters via polycondensation methods to film- and fiber-forming molecular weights. The copolymeric mordants comprise polymerized repeating units from first and second polymerizable vinylbenzyl quaternary ammonium compounds (the first polymerizable compound, if homopolymerized, providing a water-soluble homopolymer and the second polymerizable compound being a micelle-forming compound which, if homopolymerized, forms a water-insoluble homopolymer). 摘要： An image-receiving element adapted to the provision of a diffusion transfer photograph and having a preprinted security pattern between contiguous layers thereof is disclosed. The pattern comprises a patterning agent and a binder therefor preferentially adhesive to the contiguous layer closest in proximity to the image-receiving layer of such element. Diffusion transfer photographs prepared from the image-receiving element carrying the preprinted security pattern are useful in the production of an information-bearing document such as an ID card.
