摘要: In general, techniques of this disclosure are directed to a sensor for measuring an external magnetic field. The sensor an optical cavity, a laser medium which together with the optical cavity has a laser threshold, a laser pump, and a radio-frequency (RF) drive applied to the laser medium, such that the laser threshold varies with a change in the external magnetic field. The RF drive may be applied to the laser medium at or around a particular resonance frequency which varies depending on the external magnetic field, such that depending on the value of the external magnetic field, the RF drive induces transitions between at least two states of the laser medium, each state causing a different laser threshold in an intensity of a laser output. Further, the intensity of the laser output may provide a measurement of the value of the external magnetic field.

摘要: A system, method and device for brachytherapy treatment verification is described herein. The verification may be in real time and may provide verification of one or more of dose, source position, dwell time and source activity. In one embodiment the invention provides a method for verifying a brachytherapy radiation treatment including processing a distribution of exposure to a brachytherapy radiation source of a two dimensional imaging array to determine a region of high exposure; obtaining one or more distribution of exposure profiles through the region of high exposure; determining a region of high value in the one or more distribution of exposure profiles; and using the determined region of high exposure and/or high value to calculate one or more brachytherapy radiation source position and/or one or more brachytherapy radiation source distance to thereby verify at least a part of the brachytherapy radiation treatment.

摘要: Mental state of a person is classified in an automated manner by analysing natural speech of the person. A glottal waveform is extracted from a natural speech signal. Pre-determined parameters defining at least one diagnostic class of a class model are retrieved, the parameters determined from selected training glottal waveform features. The selected glottal waveform features are extracted from the signal. Current mental state of the person is classified by comparing extracted glottal waveform features with the parameters and class model. Feature extraction from a glottal waveform or other natural speech signal may involve determining spectral amplitudes of the signal, setting spectral amplitudes below a pre-defined threshold to zero and, for each of a plurality of sub bands, determining an area under the thresholded spectral amplitudes, and deriving signal feature parameters from the determined areas in accordance with a diagnostic class model.

摘要: The present invention provides an optical modulator for modulating an optical carrier by an electrical signal. The modulator comprises a first and a second waveguide for guiding the optical carrier, each waveguide is formed from, or being juxtaposed with respect to, an electro-optic material. The modulator also comprises a series of cavities associated with the first waveguide and the second waveguide and means for applying the electrical signal having a predetermined bandwidth to the cavities. The cavities have a resonant frequency within the predetermined bandwidth. The present invention also provides a device for optical single sideband with carrier (OSSB+C) transmission. The device has parallel-coupled cavities.

摘要: A process for the preparation of reduced graphene comprising the steps of: providing an expandable graphite intercalated with oxygen containing groups; heating the expandable graphite under conditions sufficient to cause expansion of the expandable graphite and formation of an expanded graphite comprising oxygen containing groups; and contacting the expanded graphite with carbon monoxide to reduce at least a portion of the oxygen containing groups and form a reduced expanded graphite comprising an array of reduced graphene. The process of the invention enables large volumes of high quality graphene to be produced.
