摘要： A current-limiting fuse comprises a hollow insulating housing; metallic end cap assemblies at opposite ends of the housing; a multi-ribbed dielectric spider assembly having metallic terminator plates connected at opposite ends disposed within the housing with each terminator plate electrically and mechanically connected to an associated end cap assembly; a plurality of fusible elements helically wound on the spider assembly with their ends electrically and mechanically secured to the terminate plate; a visual indicator pin mounted on one end of the spider assembly and movable by a biasing spring from a retracted position wherein it is secured by a fusible wire to a tripped (fuse-blown) position wherein it projects through aligned holes in an associated terminator plate and end cap assembly; and granular dielectric material filling the housing. Each terminator plate comprises axially inwardly extending relatively massive arcing electrodes (one for each fusible element) around which end portions of the fusible elements are wound. Each end portion of an element extends either through a hole in the arcing electrode to which it is spot-welded or through a hole in the terminator plate to which it is welded. The fusible wire has one end mechanically secured to the pin, is helically wound through axially spaced apart holes formed in the ribs of the spider assembly, and has its other end mechanically anchored to a rib in the spider assembly.

摘要： A solid state inverse overcurrent relay having a long slender wire connected to respond to a current which is proportional to the line current in a power system. An infrared detector or phototransistor is positioned to sense a predetermined color of radiation from the wire and is connected to fire a silicon controlled rectifier which is connected in series with a trip coil for a circuit breaker. The trip coil and silicon controlled rectifier are connected to an independent DC power source. The long slender wire on energization responds to the current which is proportional line current with the same time current characteristic as a fuse. In an alternate embodiment of the invention the relay is connected to the power system through a bridge rectifier which provides the DC current for operating both the heat responsive wire as well as the infrared detector.

摘要： In a transformer primary circuit breaker having a primary switch for opening and closing the transformer primary circuit, an operating handle mounted exteriorly of the transformer for opening and closing the primary switch, a trip mechanism operatively connected to open the primary switch under fault current conditions, the trip mechanism including a conductive metallic sensor element connected in the primary circuit and having a predetermined Curie temperature and a magnet mounted for movement into engagement with the sensor element and biased to open the primary switch when the temperature of the sensor element approaches the Curie temperature, the improvement comprising a shunt circuit connected to the primary circuit in parallel with the sensor element, a normally closed switch in the shunt circuit, a resistance element for limiting the current passing through the shunt circuit, and a tab mounted on the operating handle for opening the shunt circuit switch, a spring mounted in the operating handle for limiting the motion of the operating handle to thereby close the shunt switch, whereby a portion of the primary current will flow through the shunt circuit when the switch is closed. A bimetal switch can be included in the shunt circuit to open the shunt circuit at predetermined oil temperatures or excessive currents.
