    摘要: A method and system for geophysical exploration including obtaining, processing, displaying and interpreting seismic data. Seismic energy is imparted into the earth's subterranean formation along at least two linear independent lines of action in a seismic survey. At least two linearly independent components of the seismic wave energy imparted along each line of action are detected within the seismic survey. A concord of seismic signals is produced from the seismic wave energy detected for selected combinations of receiver and source locations. An orientation module operates on the concord of the seismic signals so as to generate synthetic concords of seismic signals so as to focus on a particular component of the seismic wave energy in order to infer the geologic characteristics of the earth's subterranean formations.

    摘要: A process for the manufacture of a phosphorus-vanadium and phosphorus-vanadium co-metal catalysts suitable for use in the manufacture of maleic anhydride from benzene, butane, and other C.sub.4 hydrocarbons which process comprises reacting at a temperature of about 0.degree. C. a vanadium compound in an organic ether solvent having about 2 to about 10 carbon atoms with a phosphoryl halide in the presence of water or an aliphatic alcohol having from about 1 to about 8 carbon atoms, eliminating the solvent and activating the catalyst by the addition of the hydrocarbon feedstock and water and a phosphorus compound at a temperature of about 300.degree. C. to about 500.degree. C. wherein the amount of water added is about 1000 parts per million to about 40,000 parts per million by weight of the reactor feed gas stream is disclosed. The catalysts are useful for the manufacture of maleic anhydride from butane, benzene, and other C.sub.4 hydrocarbon feedstocks.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for heating materials with photoelectric radiant energy include directing photoelectric radiant energy onto a reflective conical member positioned at one focal line of an ellipsoidal reflective surface. The radiant energy is dispersed by the conical member and directed to the reflective wall. Radiant energy is further reflected by the ellipsoidal surface to an opposite focal line creating an area of intense radiant energy. Materials to be heated are introduced into the area of intense photoelectric radiant energy. Embodiments of the present invention are applicable to reacting silane and ammonia to form silicon nitride by laser pyrolysis.

    摘要: The method is particularly adapted for controlling the molecular weight of a product output from a polybutene reactor. The method includes the steps of: deriving from the operating parameter of a polybutene reactor system a formula which correlates molecular weight as determined by product viscosity or other parameters of the product output with operating variables such as temperature of the reactor and concentration of isobutylene in the reactor, which concentration can be controlled by the amount of catalyst, e.g., aluminum chloride, being fed into the reactor; monitoring (a) the temperature of the reactor, (b) the concentration of isobutylene in the reactor, (c) the flow of coolant supplied to the reactor for controlling the temperature thereof and (d) the feed rate of catalyst into the reactor; calculating with said algorithm the approximate molecular weight of the product output; determining if the desired product molecular weight is higher or lower than the calculated molecular weight; and, if higher or lower, altering, through use of the formula, the temperature and/or the concentration of isobutylene in the reactor to obtain the desired product molecular weight.Also the method can include the step of adding moisture to the feed or the reactor for lowering the molecular weight of the polybutene product output.The apparatus includes a reactor, a computer and various sensing, monitoring and control devices for carrying out the steps of the method.
