摘要: A method of carrying out mass spectrometry, comprising: using an electrostatic or electrodynamic ion trap to contain a plurality of ions, each ion having a mass to charge ratio, the ions having a first plurality of mass to charge ratios, each ion following a path within the electrostatic or electrodynamic ion trap having a radius; and for each of a second plurality of the mass to charge ratios: modulating the radii of the ions in a mass to charge ratio-dependent fashion dependent upon the mass to charge ratio; fragmenting the ions thus modulated in a radius-dependent fashion; and determining a mass spectrum of the ions.

摘要: A new scanning electrochemical microscopy tip positioning method that allows topography and surface activity to be resolved independently is presented. A SECM tip is oscillated relative to the surface of interest. Changes in the oscillation amplitude, caused by the intermittent contact of the SECM tip with the surface of interest, are used to detect the surface of interest, and as a feedback signal for various types of imaging.

摘要: A defect centre-based sensor is disclosed. The sensor comprises instrumentation which includes a generator for causing excitation in an active element, for example a diamond, and a detector for measuring a transition in the active element. The generator is an optical source and/or the detector is an optical detector. The sensor further comprises an optical waveguide and a sensor head in communication with the source and/or the detector via the optical waveguide. The sensor head houses the active element having at least one defect centre, for example, a nitrogen vacancy, responsive to an applied magnetic field, electric field or temperature and a signal delivery arrangement, for example at least one lens, arranged to optically couple the optical waveguide to the active element.

摘要: An embodiment provides a method for modifying a carbon region on a boron-doped diamond electrode surface, comprising: placing a boron-doped diamond electrode surface in an aqueous solution, wherein the aqueous solution comprises an ionic treatment solution; applying a voltage difference across the boron-doped diamond electrode surface; and modifying a carbon region on an area of the boron-doped diamond electrode surface, wherein the modifying is responsive to application of the voltage while the boron-doped diamond electrode surface is in the aqueous solution, wherein the modification continues until a desired signal of the carbon region is reached. 摘要: A method for forming a diamond product. Diamond material is provided and a damage layer comprising sp2 bonded carbon is formed in the material. The presence of the damage layer defines a first diamond layer above and in contact with the damage layer and a second diamond layer below and in contact with the damage layer. The damage layer is electrochemically etched to separate it from the first layer, wherein the electrochemical etching is performed in a solution containing ions, the solution having an electrical conductivity of at least 500 μS cm−1, and wherein the ions are capable of forming radicals during electrolysis. The diamond product is also described.

摘要: Polymeric block copolymer dispersants made by controlled radical polymerization are disclosed that include polyacrylate solubilizing segments and styrene-maleic anhydride particulate anchoring segments. Desirably, a large percentage of the maleic anhydride units are reacted with an aminic reactant of 4 to 30 carbon atoms with 2 to 10 nitrogen atoms wherein at least one nitrogen is primary and the other is tertiary or three times bonded to carbon atoms.
