摘要: An apparatus (10) is provided for implantation into an adjacent pair of vertebral bodies (12 and 14) having first and second surfaces (17 and 19) that oppose each other. The apparatus (10), when implanted, is attached to the adjacent pair of vertebral bodies and stabilizes the vertebral bodies (12 and 14) while the vertebral bodies fuse together. The apparatus (10) comprises a platform (24) having a third surface (38) extending transverse to the first and second surfaces (17 and 19). The apparatus (10) further comprises at least one helical spike (50, 52) for embedding into each of the adjacent pair of vertebral bodies (12 and 14) upon rotation of the platform (24) to attach the helical spike to each of the vertebral bodies and thus fasten the vertebral bodies together. The helical spike (50, 52) projects from the platform (24) and extends around a longitudinal axis (22). The helical spike (50, 52) has a tip portion (58) at a distal end (62) for penetrating the first and second surfaces (17 and 19) and for screwing into the adjacent pair of vertebral bodies (12 and 14) as the platform (24) is rotated. The helical spike (50, 52) at least partially defines an internal cavity (140) for receiving material (130) that promotes fusion of the vertebral bodies (12 and 14).

摘要: An apparatus (10) for correcting spinal deformity comprises at least one anchor (20) for implantation into a vertebral body (90). The anchor (20) includes a platform (24) having a first surface (38) for facing the vertebral body (90). The anchor (20) further includes screw means (50 and 52) for embedding into the vertebral body (90) upon rotation of the platform (24). The platform (24) includes at least one passage (44) extending transversely through the platform. The passage (44) receives a cable (120) connected with another anchor (20) in another vertebral body (92). The cable (120) is tensioned to cause relative movement between the vertebral bodies (90 and 92) and thereby correct the spinal deformity. Additional cables (150, 170) may be connected to the anchors (20) and tensioned to achieve correction in multiple planes.

摘要: An apparatus (10) is provided for implantation into a bone (12) in a patient's spine or pelvis. The apparatus (10) comprises a platform (24) having a first surface (38) for facing the bone (12). The platform (24) includes structure (32, 34, 36) for connection to a spinal fixation implant (100). The apparatus (10) further comprises helical spikes (50, 52) for embedding into the bone (12) upon rotation of the platform (24). The helical spikes (50, 52) project tangentially from the platform (24) and extend around a longitudinal axis (22). The helical spikes (50, 52) have a tip portion (58) which penetrates into the bone (12) as the platform (24) is rotated. The helical spikes (50, 52) further have a connecting portion (54) connected to the platform (24) and an intermediate portion (56) extending between the connecting portion and the tip portion (58). At least one of the intermediate portion (56) and the connecting portion (54) has a tubular cross-section.

摘要: A humerus implant for a reverse shoulder prosthesis has a cup shaped body and a thread at the outside of the body. The thread has a plurality of fins with cut-outs between the fins. At least one fin has an inclined leading surface which helps in incising into the bone by rotating the body in an inward direction. Furthermore, at least one fin has a forward oriented undercut trailing surface blocking rotation in the outward direction.

摘要: An anchor is implantable into a bone in a patient's body and, when implanted, is resistant to toggling in the bone and to being pulled from the bone. The anchor includes a head end portion having a surface that extends transverse to a central axis of the anchor and is engagable with the bone. A plurality of helical spikes extend from the surface on the head end portion and are engagable with the bone. Each of the plurality of helical spikes has a helical central axis that forms a helix around the central axis of the anchor. Each of the plurality of helical spikes further has a circular cross-sectional configuration as viewed in a plane extending perpendicular to the helical central axis of each of the helical spikes and a distal end portion with a tip that penetrates the bone as the head end portion is rotated relative to the bone.

摘要: An apparatus (10) for correcting spinal deformity comprises at least one anchor (20) for implantation into a vertebral body (90). The anchor (20) includes a platform (24) having a first surface (38) for facing the vertebral body (90). The platform (24) includes a tunnel (40) and at least one passage (44) extending through the platform. The passage (44) extends transverse to and intersects the tunnel (40). The anchor (20) includes screw means (50, 52) for embedding into the vertebral body (90). A removable rod (70) extends into the tunnel (40) and has at least one opening (72) for receiving a cable (120) connected with another anchor (20) in another vertebral body (92). The cable (120) is tensioned to cause relative movement between the vertebral bodies (90 and 92) and thereby correct the spinal deformity. Additional cables (150, 170) may be connected to the anchors (20) and tensioned to achieve correction in multiple planes.
