Abstract: The disclosure includes methods and systems for making orthopedic connections where there is unique adjustability to the connection. Illustratively, one embodiment provides a connecting assembly for connecting a plurality of orthopedic components. Such connecting assemblies can include a first orthopedic component that provides a female bore. Additionally, the assembly can include a second orthopedic component that can be or include a male-type connecting member that is positionable in the bore of the first orthopedic component. In one preferred form, the male-type connecting member will be a quasi-spherical member. The quasi-spherical member can include a textured outer surface, e.g., for contacting one or more walls or surfaces in the bore in a fashion that removably locks or helps to removably lock or fix the quasi-spherical member in the bore.

Abstract: A stemless humeral shoulder assembly having a base member and an anchor advanceable into the base member. The base member can include a distal end that can be embedded in bone and a proximal end that can be disposed at a bone surface. The base member can also have a plurality of spaced apart arms projecting from the proximal end to the distal end. The anchor can project circumferentially into the arms and into a space between the arms. When the anchor is advanced into the base member, the anchor can be exposed between the arms. A recess can project distally from a proximal end of the anchor to within the base member. The recess can receive a mounting member of an anatomical or reverse joint interface.

Abstract: A shell (1) for a prosthetic joint to be driven into a bone substance. The shell having an outer lateral surface (4) which is convexly curved in cross section and on which a plurality of ribs (5) is arranged. All ribs extend in the same direction at a preferably increasing gradient angle of 45° to 85° at the equatorial end (6) to a pole-side end (7). The cumulative flank projection area of all ribs (5) corresponds to at least a fifth of the entire outer lateral surface. As a result of this measure, a very high primary stability is achieved once the shell has been driven in, the shell being screwed into the bone substance very precisely and without bone material being sheared off. This arrangement can also be applied, similarly, to a concavely curved inner lateral surface.

Abstract: A method of implanting a humeral component includes accessing a humerus and resecting a head portion of the humerus to form a resected surface. The method further includes selecting a first combination sizer and guide device having an outer surface sized complementary to a desired implant head size, positioning the selected first combination sizer and guide device on the resected surface, guiding placement of a guide pin in the humerus with the first combination sizer and guide device, guiding a reamer with the placed guide pin to form a reamed cavity in the humerus, positioning an anchoring portion of a humeral implant base portion in the reamed cavity, positioning the first combination sizer and guide device on the base portion, removing the first combination sizer and guide device from the base portion, and positioning an implant head on the base portion.

Abstract: The present application concerns a shoulder prosthesis assembly. The shoulder prosthesis assembly comprises a humeral stem including a first articulating coupling means, a base portion of a substantially disc shaped geometry including a second articulating coupling means. Said first articulating coupling means and said second articulating coupling means connect the stem to the base portion. The ratio between the circumference of the disc shaped base portion and the peripheral thickness of the disc shaped base portion is at least 18:1.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for treating a proximal humeral fracture. A system according to one embodiment includes a longitudinal member configured to be received within the humeral shaft. The system includes a jig assembly configured to be coupled to the longitudinal member, wherein the jig assembly includes at least one hole defined therethrough that is configured to guide placement of at least one hole in the humeral shaft, and wherein the hole formed in the humeral shaft is configured to align with at least one hole in the humeral implant such that the jig assembly is configured to locate the position of the humeral implant in the humeral shaft.
