摘要： Systems and methods for use with haptic devices. A control system for haptic devices determines a first course of action based on a user's motion. Prior to implementing the first course of action, the control system determines if the first course of action would lead to instability in the haptic device which could cause an unsafe situation such as failure of its components. If the first course of action would lead to instability, the control device determines a second course of action that would not lead to instability and implements this second course of action. To assist in this second course of action and to prevent potential oscillation in the haptic device, the control system also selectively dampens a projected action of the haptic device. A haptic device using such a control system is also disclosed.

摘要： The Device to Assist Paraplegics with Getting Dressed is designed to lift a person that has a spinal cord injury or minimal use of their legs above the seat of a wheel chair, or a toilet seat, allowing easy slipping on or off of the pants. The device may be wall mounted wall adjacent to a seating fixture. The device may be mounted on a “free standing” frame, which may have wheels to make it easy to move around and may easily fold up for storage. To use the device a person will, with their arms out to their sides horizontally, put the armpit rest under their arm pit area. On reaching down towards the pants, the armpit rest will turn from horizontal to a vertical position, lifting them up enough to slip the pants on or off.

摘要： A bed equipment using a supporter for a human body, such as an incapacitated patient, is used to raise the patient from a surface, such as a bed, so that a hammock may be spread on the bed and the patient lowered onto the hammock. The supporter is formed by inserting an arm and a belt into a sleeve, and fits between the patient and the bed without causing the patient pain. Preferably, the belt has holes in either end so that suspending strings may be engaged by hooks. The suspending strings are raised or lowered by preferably independent motors so that the patient can be raised or lowered comfortably. The suspending strings may be moved relative to each another or fixed relative to each other. Once the patient is on the hammock, the hooks are removed from the supporter and attached to the hammock. Various rails and motors allow the patient on the hammock to be moved horizontally from the bed over a bathtub or toilet, and then lowered and raised accordingly.

The sling comprises two rigid members substantially identical to one another; each rigid member having a cross section in a first longitudinal direction which is substantially constant and each rigid member including an inner surface which, in use, is closest to the disabled person, which inner surface includes a curvate portion which is curved about at least one axis parallel to said longitudinal direction, said each curvate portion defining a hollow into which, in use, the thigh of a disabled person may be placed; the rigid members being joined by a connector which allows pivotal movement of the rigid members relative to each other about an axis substantially parallel to the axis about which the curvate portion of the inner surface is curved; the sling also including means for attaching the sling to a lifting device in the region of the connector.
