摘要: Emergency stop for a linear actuator system, which comprises a housing (13) and an activation button (12) adapted for activating a circuit breaker and where the activation button (12) has a neutral position and an emergency position. The emergency stop further comprises a spring (19) for spring-loading the activation button (12) for retaining the activation button (12) in the neutral position, a latching mechanism adapted for retaining the activation button (12) in the emergency position once it has entered this position, and a release mechanism adapted to unlatch the latching mechanism. The spring-loaded activation button (12) is pivotally connected to the housing (13) and arranged to pivot between the neutral position and the emergency position. The spring-loaded activation button (12) comprises an arm (26,27) having one end attached to the underside (24) of the spring-loaded activation button (12). The housing 13 comprises a wall piece (35,36) adapted for engaging a free end of the arm (26,27). The latching mechanism comprises a protruding part (61,62) on the arm (26,27) and a receiving part (39,40) on the wall piece (35,36), said protruding part (61,62) and said receiving part (39,40) being unlatched when the activation button (12) is in the neutral position and latched when the activation button (12) is in the emergency position. The release mechanism comprises a reactivation button (14,15) movable between a first and second position, said reactivation button (14,15) unlatches the latching mechanism by disengaging the protruding part (61,62) from the receiving part (39,40) when the reactivation button (14,15) is moved from the first position to the second position.

摘要: A control system for a lifting device and a lifting device comprising the same are disclosed. The control system includes a control unit comprising a processor with a memory communicatively coupled to the processor and having computer readable and executable instructions. A battery is electrically coupled to the control unit in addition to at least one indicator. The processor executes the computer readable and executable instructions to: determine an operating characteristic of the lifting device and an operating time of the lifting device as the lifting device is actuated; determine an accumulated load-time parameter for the lifting device based on the operating characteristic and the operating time; store the accumulated load-time parameter in the memory of the lift control system; compare the accumulated load-time parameter to a service constant; and provide an indication the indicator that a lift structural component requires service based on the comparison.

摘要: A positioning device is described. This device includes a planar sheet having first and second side edges and a top surface. A patient is positioned on the top surface where the first and second side edges are adjacent to the patient's legs. A first flexible substrate and a second flexible substrate are coupled to the respective first and second side edge of the sheet and are capable of wrapping around an adjacent leg of the patient creating a wrapped engagement. This wrapped engagement of the patient's legs prevents heat loss during pre-surgery, surgery, post-surgery or transport of the patient. Handles coupled to the sheet may be utilized for lifting or moving the sheet when the patient is supported by the sheet.

摘要: As the obesity rate climbs nationwide, obese and morbidly obese patients will continue to pose special lifting challenges to the healthcare industry. Obesity among American adults has nearly doubled during the past two decades. One in 80 men weights >300 pounds and one in 200 women weights >300 pounds. Getting assistance is crucial when moving these patients. With these rising numbers, have come the numerous complications relating to medical treatment for these bariatric patients. Healthcare providers must consider the additional costs associated with handling of the bariatric patient along with safety issues relating to both the bariatric patient and caregiver. Also, moving extremely obese patients can prove to very dangerous or even fatal. The most economical assistance to move bariatric patients to and from the hospital bed can only be provided by some mechanical aid. The management of bariatric patients produces special challenges, and the best way to ensure safe patient handling is through the use of special mechanical equipment that meet the size and weight requirements of these bariatric patients and that can be operated in very confined spaces. The target population is estimated to be the 4.5 million extremely obese persons in the United States, with a Body Mass Index (BMI) >35 that will become patients in some health care facility. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that care for obese patients costs an average of 37 percent more than people of normal weight. In 2003, obesity-related medical costs in the US reached >$ 75 billion. This apparatus will be the first of its kind to incorporate adaptive control techniques to present-day assistive lift device designs.

摘要: A lifting appliance, especially for a patient lifting device, comprises a telescopic column (10) having a carriage (22) which is reciprocable in the longitudinal direction of the column under the action of the telescopic extension and retraction motions of the column. The appliance comprises safety means (37) which are adapted to stop the telescopic motions of the column, in case of defects in the power transmission between a driving motor (15) producing the telescopic motions of the column, and the carriage (22), or if the carriage (22) or a lifting means connected therewith should be stopped by some object in its downward motion.

摘要: A patient positioning device includes a planar sheet having removably connected padded substrates attached proximal to the patient's arms. The padded substrates are wrapped around the patient's respective arms to protect and elevate the arms from the underlying table or gurney. Leggings are also provided to protect the patient's legs. The padded substrates include splits to allow wires and cables to pass through without getting tangled. A secondary sheet is attachable to the device to cocoon the patient when the patient is rolled over. A shoulder strap is provided under the patients shoulders, wrapping around and over the shoulders at the trapezius and at the shoulder cuff and is secured to the padded substrates for additional protection and security. The device has a low friction bottom surface to ease transfer and positioning.
