    摘要: A device for controlling visibility and access to central venous access devices is comprised of a two-sided body fitted around the torso of a patient. The device has an interior surface and an exterior surface. The interior surface is fitted with a layer of absorbent, wicking material and further includes strips of anti-slip material to fix the device in place. A flexible window is positioned between two lumen retaining flaps and fixed between the interior and exterior surfaces. The lumen retaining flaps create pockets to store and protect lumens attached to intravenous tubing. The body includes a flexible closure including a resilient gauze section to provide flexibility and size adjustability. The window allows visual access to the percutaneous site and prevents patient tampering.

    摘要: Percutaneous access apparatus is described that includes a percutaneous fluid access device having an extracorporeal portion, one or more ports accessible from the extracorporeal portion and a septum for sealing each port. A connector device having one or more hollow needles is attachable to the percutaneous fluid access device. The apparatus also includes an attachment mechanism for attaching the connector device to the extracorporeal portion and an actuation mechanism that, after the connector device has been attached to the extracorporeal portion, can be used to drive the one or more hollow needles through the septum to establish fluid communication between the one or more hollow needles and the one or more ports. The apparatus may be used for neurosurgery applications.

    摘要: Medical devices and related methods enable physicians and/or other medical personnel to access percutaneously the interior of a patient. One particular device includes a housing which defines a cavity, a first opening into the cavity, and a second opening into the cavity. The housing is implantable in a patient. The cavity is placed subcutaneously within the patient. The first opening is substantially flush with the surface of the skin of the patient and creates a percutaneous passageway from the exterior of the skin of the patient into the cavity, and the second opening creates a passageway from the cavity into the interior of the patient. A connector is coupled to the second opening and disposed substantially within the cavity to enable a connection between a first device and a second device disposed within the interior of the patient.

The catheter system includes a guide catheter having a distal guide orifice, a proximal guide orifice, and a guide lumen extending therebetween. The replacement distal orifice is positioned on a replacement distal segment of the replacement catheter which extends out of the distal guide orifice of the guide catheter when the replacement catheter is positioned within the guide lumen of the guide catheter. A method of performing a medical procedure with a catheter system is also disclosed.

    摘要: A burr hole ring with a catheter for use as an injection port comprises a modified burr hole ring adapted to engage the skull at a burr hole drilled therein. The interior of the burr hole ring defines a fluid reservoir that may be accessed by a needle or stylet inserted through a septum positioned over the top of the burr hole ring. The reservoir is in fluid communication with the central lumen of a catheter. The assembly comprises a fluid flow path suitable for the transfer of fluids to or from selected location at, near or within the brain. A filter layer may be provided to prevent contamination of the drug infusion site.
