摘要: Electrical stimulation of specific facial and lingual nerves creates a more sustained pulsatility activity compared to stimulation of other cranial nerves. Pulsatility of arteries has intrinsic time constraints related to the time for vasodilation/constriction and time to return to baseline (TBL) after electrical stimulation which may affect the pulsatility response. Control of temporal patterning and the stimulation waveform maximizes the physiological response to cerebral pulsatility and its resulting effects on cerebral spinal fluid penetration into the brain parenchyma for a multitude of therapeutic uses including clearing misfolded proteins and/or administered pharmacological agents, diluting endogenous neurochemical concentrations within the brain, and reducing non-synaptic coupling.

摘要: Electrotransport drug delivery devices, system and methods of using configured to determine if a current is present between the anode and cathode when drug is not intended to be delivered by the device. These devices/systems may include an off-current module to determine that any current (e.g., which may be inferred by measuring potential difference between the anode and cathode of the device) flowing between the anode and cathode is below a threshold value when the device is not supposed to be delivering drug, thereby preventing unintended delivery of drug and/or alerting a user that unintended delivery of drug may occur.

摘要: A device for delivering light and ultrasound across a skin surface is provided. The device has a layered structure comprising a light source and an ultrasonic transducer. The light source comprises a flexible light emitter layer electrically coupled to a first conductive layer and a second conductive layer, wherein at least one of the first and second conductive layers is transparent. The ultrasonic transducer comprises a flexible ultrasound emitter layer electrically coupled to a third conductive layer and a fourth conductive layer. In one embodiment, the light source comprises an organic light emitting diode or a plurality of printed light emitting diodes and the ultrasonic transducer comprises a piezoelectric coating. The device may be provided with a therapeutic or cosmetic composition to be applied to the skin surface, wherein the light and ultrasound emitted from the device cause transdermal transport of the composition through the skin surface.

摘要: Methods, systems and other embodiments associated with administering ionotophoretic medicines are presented. A method of administering ionotophoretic medicines includes applying a voltage across a body tissue and an iontophoretic solution including medicine. At least some of the iontophoretic solution including medicine is then injected into the body tissue without requiring the iontophoretic transportation of the iontophoretic solution including medicine through the skin. The iontophoretic solution is typically injected while the voltage is applied. The voltage causes an ionic current of iontophoretic medicine to flow which disperses the medicine within the body tissue toward body tissue connected to the voltage.

摘要: A wound dressing that provides galvanic current and has antimicrobial properties. The dressing comprises a pliable base material, along with a pattern of deposited metal flakes. The metal flakes include at least two different metal types which are deposited in patterns which touch or overlap, typically in a repeating pattern. The two metals create a galvanic current in the wound area. The metals are deposited in mounds so that the wound dressing continues to work over extended periods of time.
