Abstract:
An exercise machine for performing a variety of different exercise routines includes a rotating arm assembly and a swing-away workout station. The workout station may include a bench seat and a stabilizing support, and may be adjusted to provide for a number of different configurations. For example, the bench seat and the stabilizing support may pivot forward and backward, and the stabilizing support may extend upward and downward for supporting the user's body in different positions, while performing different exercise routines.
Abstract:
A multi-layered composite for performing cardiovascular/pulmonary training comprising a first core layer, the upper surface of which is adapted for frictional contact with a body part of a user of the composite and a lower surface affixed to a second layer adapted for frictional contact with a floor of a venue occupied by the user, and a kit and method of performing cardiovascular/pulmonary conditioning.
Abstract:
A multi-functional curved board to be used when working in standing position and for working when sitting down as a support for feet and generally for maintaining muscle strength, the multi-functional curved board having at least one curved body (1). The body (1) comprises at least one counter-curve means (3). One surface (1b) of the body is curved outwards and the counter-curve means are fastened to a surface (1a) opposite this surface (1a) adjacent the end sides (1d) of the body (1) and the counter-curve means are curved outwards from the opposite surface of the body (1).
Abstract:
A machine for exercising at least a user's abdominal muscles, the machine having a base having front and back ends, an arm lever mounted to the base, a user platform moved by a user and/or by the arm lever, the user platform slidably and pivotably mounted to the base, and a linkage mechanism operatively connecting the arm lever to the user platform so that when the arm lever is moved towards the user platform, the user platform is moved towards the arm lever and a front end of the user platform is moved upwards, pivoting the user platform into an angled configuration, and when the arm lever is moved away from the user platform, the user platform is moved away from the arm lever and the front end of the user platform is moved downwards, pivoting the user platform into a horizontal configuration.
Abstract:
The invention is embodied in an exercise system that can allow its user to counterbalance the effects associated with a predominantly sedentary lifestyle though a fitness device that comprises a combination of (a) supporting the lower body in a manner that permits a user's upper body to act as a third class lever with the user's hips operating as fulcrum and (b) engaging in resistance exercises with the upper body in a horizontal position, unsupported above the greater trochanter.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter relate to an exercise device for torso rotations. The device includes a rotating assembly including an inclined, elevated, backwardly-oriented back rest and optionally a head rest and an arm assembly. The rotating assembly is configured to a effect a side-to-side rotation around a pivot point elevated above a base of the device and around an axis oriented along the device. When the user leans weight his upper back on the back rest to elevate his/her upper back, s/he may effect torso rotations that, in some embodiments, are resisted by a resistance assembly of the exercise device.
Abstract:
A machine for concurrently performing pressing motions with the hands and feet, the machine having a base having front and back ends, two or more user supports, at least one lower body user support with an engagement means for the user's feet and at least one upper body user support with an engagement means for the user's hands. The upper body user support and lower body user support move fore and aft on opposing ends of the base frame and at least one of the upper body user supports and at least one of the lower body user supports cooperate with one another to move in opposing fore and aft movement patterns during operation of the machine.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the assisted performance of a fitness exercise, equipped with a fitness tool configured to interact with the user to enable the user to perform a movement along a preset path overcoming the force of a resistant load, comprises: sensing means set up to provide a signal representing the movement of the user; feedback means for transmitting a signal to the user during performance of the exercise; a processor connected to the sensing means and to the feedback means to provide the user with feedback in real time on the correctness of performance of the exercise, based on a comparison between the signal representing the movement of the user and a predetermined reference pattern representing an ideal pattern for the movement of the user corresponding to the exercise performed correctly.
Abstract:
A dual-mode exercise apparatus may include an articulating arm assembly coupled through a joint to a support assembly. In an illustrative embodiment, the arm assembly may include a seat centrally mounted above a ball-and-socket joint and a stabilizer member for the hands and/or feet of the user. In a first mode of operation a user sits on the seat and uses his or her core muscles to articulate the seat on the ball-and-socket joint against the resistance provided by, for instance, weights mounted on distal portions of the arm assembly. In certain embodiments the apparatus may further provide a second mode of operation which simulates rowing a kayak. In a corresponding illustrative embodiment a user sits in a second seat positioned rearward of the arm assembly and the arm assembly includes handle members. In operation the user articulates the handles in a manner akin to rowing a kayak.
Abstract:
A swiveling user support assembly has a user support or seat rotatably mounted on a user support mounting device or frame for rotation about a first pivot axis, while the mounting device or frame is pivotally or rigidly connected to a main frame of an exercise machine. The user support has a base, and a primary user support and stabilizing device mounted on the base. A pivot connection between the base and mounting device or frame allows the user support to swivel from side to side about the first pivot axis. A centering mechanism helps to orient the user support in a central position for user entry or exit.
