[R—Ar—(COOH)2]x[Ar—(COOH)3]2-xM32+ (I)
is provided where M is Mn, Cu, Co, Fe, Zn, Cd, Ni, or Pt; R is a bromine, nitro, a primary amine, C1-C4 alkyl secondary amine, C1-C4 alkyl oxy, Br—(C1-C4 alkyl), NO2—(C1-C4 alkyl), a mercaptan, and reaction products of any of the aforementioned with acyl chlorides of the formulas: CH3(CH2)mC(O)Cl, or CH3(CH(C1-C4 alkyl)CH2)mC(O)Cl, or CH3(CH2)m-Ph-(CH2)pC(O)Cl, where Ph is a C6 phenyl or C6 phenyl with one or more hydrogens replaced with F, C1-C4 fluoroalkyl, or C1-C4 perfluoroalkyl; m is independently in each occurrence an integer of 0 to 12 inclusive; p is an integer of 0 to 36 inclusive, to form an amide, a thioamide, or an ester; Ar is a 1,3,5-modified phenyl, and 1.4>x>0. A process of synthesis thereof and the use to chemically modify a gaseous reactant are also provided.-

摘要: Polymeric membranes are modified via SIS to promote membrane resilience, prolong membrane lifetime, and mitigate fouling. Modified membranes include an inorganic material within an outer portion of the modified membrane and a polymeric core that remains unmodified by the inorganic material. The polymer may be removed leaving an inorganic material patterned from an initial unmodified polymeric membrane.

摘要: Chemically inert, mechanically tough, cationic metallo-polyelectrolytes designed as durable anion-exchange membranes (AEMs) via ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of cobaltocenium-containing cyclooctene with triazole as the only linker group, followed by backbone hydrogenation to provide a new class of AEMs with a polyethylene-like framework and alkaline-stable cobaltocenium cation for ion transport, which exhibit excellent thermal, chemical and mechanical stability, as well as high ion conductivity.

摘要: A rare earth coated membrane is beneficial to aid in the separation of contaminants, such as anions containing phosphorous, anions containing arsenic, PFAS, and mixtures thereof. Membranes with the rare earth coating or treatment can have larger pore sizes than would be expected to remove these contaminants. Disclosed herein are methods for treating or coating the membrane to provide the rare earth coated membrane. The coated membranes can be used to remove contaminants, such as anions containing phosphorous, anions containing arsenic, and PFAS, from liquid feeds, such as water or water-based feeds.

摘要: This invention relates thin film nanocomposites (TFNCs) and methods of preparing the same by molecular layer-by-layer assembly. The TFNCs comprise a porous nanofibrous support first layer coated with a mid-layer having an outer separating layer, wherein the out separating layer has one or more bilayers or trilayers. The TFNCs can be particularly suitable for use as filtration membranes for the separation of dissolved components from fluids such as ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis. Thus, embodiments of the invention also include filtration systems and methods of filtering.

摘要: Molybdenum disulfide membranes for ionic and/or molecular filtration applications are provided. The membranes have high separation performance, including high water flux and high molecule and/or ion rejection, and do not need to be stored in a hydrated condition in order to enable their reuse.
