Abstract:
The invention relates to a casting machine for producing a product intended for human consumption from a castable material, in particular a fat material such as chocolate, for example, having a heatable material container for receiving the castable material; at least one nozzle which is in fluid connection with the material container interior, and a pressure source for generating an overpressure in the material container interior. According to the invention, the nozzle has a nozzle orifice or a nozzle constriction, the open cross section or flow cross section of which is flexible. A process according to the invention for producing a product intended for human consumption from a castable material has the following steps: providing a heated castable material in a material container; generating an overpressure in the material container interior, forcing the material through a nozzle in fluid connection with the material container with simultaneous changing of the flow and/or open cross section of the nozzle.
Abstract:
There is disclosed apparatus for atomizing liquid media comprising an ultrasonic gas atomization nozzle (11) having a gas flow path (12) from a plenum chamber (17) which flow path is straight and is provided with a plurality of resonance cavities (31).
Abstract:
The illustrative embodiment of the present invention is an atomizer, a method for atomization, and a system that includes an atomizer. In some embodiments, an atomizer in accordance with present invention operates at substantially higher efficiency than known atomizers. Furthermore, in some embodiments, the present atomizer is capable of operating at lower gas pressure and lower liquid pressure than most known atomizers, as is desirable for certain fire-suppression applications. Additionally, in some embodiments, the atomizer is configured with only three parts and is very easy to manufacture.
Abstract:
Atomizing devices are provided that form droplets through the Rayleigh breakup mechanism. Various embodiments include one or more of the following features. Liquid orifices form jets of liquid that form droplets. Gas orifices provide gas coflow that inhibits coalescence of the droplets. The liquid orifices can have non-circular cross-sectional shapes to promote Rayleigh breakup. Fluidic oscillators can also be provided to promote Rayleigh breakup. Supply networks are provided to supply gas and liquid to the gas and liquid orifices, respectively.
Abstract:
In an electromagnetically actuable fuel injection valve for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines, including a of valve housing, magnetic coil and a valve closing element which, when the magnetic coil is excited, lifts off from a valve seat and releases fuel, to arrange in the outlet area of the fuel includes at least one diaphragm which is capable of oscillation and forms with other parts of the valve at least one (annular) metering gap and which can be excited solely by the pressure of the fed-in fuel to experience resonance oscillations so that a high-frequency modulation of the fuel lamella emitted from the (annular) metering gap, and a spray angle, is produced.
Abstract:
A valve for spraying material as a mist includes walls forming an elongated passageway having an inlet and an outlet. The passageway is flattened at least at the outlet end. The flattened portion has opposed walls disposed in contact and at least one of the surfaces of the flattened portion has a plurality of capillary-like channels. Upstream from the channels, the valve has a flexible wall section which vibrates at its natural frequency when the material to be sprayed as a mist is forced through the passageway out of the valve.
Abstract:
A fluid reflecting member for use in combination with a fluid spouting nozzle element, which member includes a cavity forming portion provided with a circular fluid reflecting cavity toward which a fluid or fluids is spouted from the fluid spouting nozzle element. The cavity forming portion is characterized by being provided with a plurality of axial slots having axially and outwardly inclining slot bottoms whereby a plurality of dispersing streams of the fluid or fluids passing through the axial slots is generated.
Abstract:
A flow passage having a restriction is connected between a fluid inlet and outlet. A frustum is disposed in the flow passage between the inlet and the restriction. The frustum has a base facing away from the restriction, and an apex facing toward the restriction. The inlet is transverse to the axis of the flow passage and positioned so the base and a portion only of the frustum are directly exposed to the inlet. The frustum is mounted on a rod extending through the flow passage. In one embodiment, a sphere is mounted on the end of the rod beyond the outlet. The rod may be hollow and have holes near the restriction for the purpose of liquid feed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for producing increased quantities of ions with greater efficiency wherein an electric ion generator produces character-controlled periodic, oscillatory pulses of electric energy having positive and negative components in each cycle of uneven amplitude which are used to generate positive and negative ions in distinct wave fronts or areas in a gas stream. Either the positive or negative pulse components may be used to produce only positive or negative ions. An ultrasonic generator produces vibratory sound wave pulses of ultransonic sound wave energy in a resonant cavity to pulse the gas, prior to, during or after the ionizing thereof to increase the energy level thereof. The ultrasonic energy sound waves are at approximate multiples of the frequency of the electric energy pulses producing the ions whereby the ultrasonic sound wave pulses hold ions of a similar polarity in the distinct pressure wave fronts or areas.
Abstract:
A nozzle for finely dispersing a liquid in a gas stream, usually air or steam, has therein a reverberation chamber for producing acoustic energy in the gas stream. The gas then flows through a plurality of tubular passages which are intersected by tubular passages carrying therethrough a liquid to be nebulized, said liquid usually being oil. The nozzle is particularly useful for nebulizing oil in preparation for combustion thereof.
