摘要: A method of analyzing water in a continuous casting process and controlling chemical addition to the water may involve measuring, with a plurality of sensors, at least one characteristic of a water in a plurality of different locations of a water recycle system for the continuous casting process. The continuous casting process can have multiple spray nozzles that spray water on a metal being cast, and the water recycle system may include a gravity settling tank, a filter, and a cooling tower. A processor can determine, using the measured at least one characteristic of the water from the plurality of sensors, a composite water quality value for the water in the water recycle system. A chemical additive can be controllably added into the water recycle system based on the determine composite water quality value.

摘要: Monitoring of a line system (1) in which a liquid medium (3) is guided in a line (2). The current pressure of the liquid medium (3) in the line (2) and in the associated current flow are sensed at sensing times. The two values are fed to a computing unit (5). The computing unit (5) calculates a theoretical flow of the liquid medium (3) in the line (2) from the sensed current pressure by taking into account a specified flow function. The flow function describes a physical relationship between the theoretical flow of the liquid medium (3) and the current pressure of the liquid medium (3). The computing unit (5) determines an individual degree of clogging on the basis of the current flow and the theoretical flow. On the basis of a number of determined individual degrees of clogging and by using stochastic methods, the computing unit (5) calculates an interval within which a degree of clogging of the line system (1) lies with a probability to be defined. The line system (1) is monitored by using the size of the interval and/or the position of the interval with respect to first limits for the degree of clogging that are defined beforehand.

摘要: An apparatus and method for continuously casting thin steel strip includes a pair of counter-rotatable casting rolls having a nip there between capable of delivering cast strip downwardly from the nip, a metal delivery system capable of forming a casting pool supported on casting surfaces of the casting rolls above the nip with side dams adjacent the ends of the nip to confine the casting pool, and a hot rolling mill having work rolls with work surfaces forming a gap between them through which hot strip delivered from the casting rolls is rolled, the work rolls having work surfaces relating to the desired strip profile across the work rolls. Misting jets may be in intervals along the path of the cast strip exiting from the hot rolling mill to form a cooling zone, the misting jets capable of directing toward surfaces of the cast strip a mixture of gas and water having a ratio of gas over water between 9 and 90 to cool the cast strip at more than 1.6° C. per liter of water used.

摘要: A method of casting a metal ingot having the steps of delivering molten metal to a direct chill mold, forming a solidified shell of metal, applying a coolant to a surface of the shell as it emerges from the mold, and withdrawing a solidified ingot from the mold. The coolant contains an oxidation inhibitor for increasing the rate of heat transfer from the solidifying metal compared to a coolant not containing the oxidation inhibitor to produce an ingot which is resistant to cracking.

摘要: Continuously-cast lithium-containing alloy ingots are produced by a direct chill process including cooling the alloy to form a continuous ingot having a solid shell and further cooling the ingot by direct chill with an organic coolant. The organic coolant in one aspect includes a modified hydrocarbon fluid, e.g., ethylene glycol, having less than a predetermined moisture content. The method includes recirculating coolant while controlling moisture content. An ingot formed by the present invention provides small dendrite arm spacing in a relatively large size ingot. Aircraft plate or sheet is produced from the ingot of the present invention.

摘要: The present invention relates to a water-cooled handling roll (100) for handling a load (50), in particular a thin slab, in a furnace for temperature heating, maintaining and for buffering, arranged between casting and roughing, in a continuous casting and rolling process for thin carbon steel slabs. The roll (100) comprises a first internally hollow shaft (110), which is coated by an insulating and/or refractory material and a plurality of wheels (25) connected in stably fixed manner to an outermost surface (111) of the first shaft (110) to handle and support the load (50). According to the invention, the roll (100) also comprises a second shaft (120) arranged within an inner cavity of the first shaft (110) in position coaxial to the first shaft (110) and so as to define a gap (30) between the first shaft (110) and said second shaft (120). The roll (100) further comprises cooling water circulation means housed at least in part within said second shaft (120).

摘要: In production of a reactive metal using a melting furnace for producing metal having a hearth, ingots can be efficiently produced by efficiently cooling the ingots extracted from the mold provided in the melting furnace. In addition, an apparatus structure in which multiple ingots can be produced with high efficiency and high quality from one hearth, is provided. A melting furnace for producing metal is provided, the furnace has a hearth for having molten metal formed by melting raw material, a mold in which the molten metal is poured, an extracting jig which is provided below the mold for extracting ingot cooled and solidified downwardly, a cooling member for cooling the ingot extracted downwardly of the mold, and an outer case for keeping the hearth, the mold, the extracting jig, and the cooling member separated from the air, wherein at least one mold and extracting jig are provided in the outer case, and the cooling member is provided between the outer case and the ingot, or between the multiple ingots.

摘要: An R, R, C method and equipment for continuously casting amorphous, ultra-microcrystalline, microcrystalline and the like, metal profiles is provided. The working chamber of exhaust hood is located at the outlet of hot mold, and only air is contained therein in addition to slabs or profiles that are pulled out, without any device or equipment. A traction mechanism pulls metal slabs or profiles out from the outlet of cross section of hot mold. A liquid nitrogen ejector ejects liquid nitrogen to the metal slabs or profiles of different brands and specifications at a liquid nitrogen ejection volume of liquid nitrogen V, an ejection speed of liquid nitrogen K and a thickness of liquid nitrogen ejection layer h.
