    摘要: An exemplary embodiment of the invention provides a method of preparing a reinforced refractory joint between refractory sections of a vessel used for containing or conveying molten metal, e.g. a metal-contacting trough. The method involves introducing a mesh body made of metal wires into a gap between metal-contacting surfaces of adjacent refractory sections of a vessel so that the mesh body is positioned beneath the metal conveying surfaces, and covering the mesh body with a layer of moldable refractory material to seal the gap between the metal-contacting surfaces. Other embodiments relate to a vessel formed by the method and a vessel section with a pre-positioned mesh body suitable for preparing a sealed joint with other such sections.

    摘要: A casting apparatus has a long cooling jig inclined with respect to a vertical direction. A melt is supplied to and flowed on a bottom surface of the cooling jig, whereby a solid phase is generated in the melt to obtain a semi-solid slurry, and the semi-solid slurry is transferred into and solidified in a cavity of a mold to obtain a casting. The casting apparatus further has a release agent application unit, and a release agent is applied by the application unit to the bottom surface of the cooling jig in a direction toward a supply of the melt at an angle of less than 90° to the bottom surface before supplying the melt to the cooling jig.

    摘要: A launder system for supplying molten metal from a crucible to a casting mould or a secondary process has a nozzle with a filter positioned therein to filter the molten metal as it flows through the nozzle. The nozzle and filter assembly is removably attachable to the launder system, and is used once and then replaced by a new nozzle and filter assembly. Efficient cleaning of the molten metal thus occurs without an increase in blockage due to the filter. Additionally, the scrapping rate of the launder system is reduced, allowing multiple usage of the launder.

The carriages are essentially driven from a single motor and move in a closed loop containing a loading zone and a pouring zone. Each carriage contains a clutch pump and a brake pump to control movement along the loop. Rotation of ladles to a pour position is attained by use of a parallelogram linkage on the carriage and remotely located variable pour rate controls.
