    摘要: Method for manufacturing a dental instrument having a desired machined configuration, without twisting the instrument. A blank of superelastic material is brought to an annealed state comprising a phase structure including a rhombohedral phase alone or in combination with austenite and/or martensite, or a combination of martensite and austenite. In this annealed state, a portion of the annealed material is removed at low temperature, for example less than about 100° C., and advantageously at ambient temperature, to form a final machined configuration for the instrument. The instrument is then heat treated and rapidly quenched to a superelastic condition.

    摘要: An electromachining apparatus includes a mandrel for supporting a workpiece next to a cutter mounted on an arbor. The workpiece is powered as an anode and the cutter is powered as a cathode, and a coolant is circulated therebetween. The cutter is rotated and plunge twisted into the workpiece to form a twisted slot therein, with adjacent ones of such slots forming twisted blanks therebetween. The individual blanks may then be subsequently machined to final shape such as an airfoil configuration.

    摘要: An apparatus for electrically machining including a rotatable shaft and an electrode for electrically machining is disclosed. The electrode is movably connected to the rotatable shaft. When the rotatable shaft is rotated, the electrode rotates together with the rotatable shaft and moves relative to the rotatable shaft under an action of centrifugal force. Further disclosed is a method for electrically machining including: movably connecting an electrode to a rotatable shaft; inserting the rotatable shaft into a hole in a workpiece, and keeping a gap between the electrode and the workpiece, wherein the hole has a first diameter; powering on the electrode and the workpiece; rotating the rotatable shaft in the hole to generate centrifugal force; and pushing the electrode relative to the rotatable shaft towards the workpiece under an action of the centrifugal force to remove a portion of a material of the hole.

    摘要: Methods, systems, and devices are disclosed for fabricating clean, oxidation-free nanoparticles of electrically conducting metals and alloys using spark erosion techniques. In one aspect, a method includes dispersing bulk pieces of an electrically conducting material in a dielectric fluid with mechanical vibrations within a container; generating an electric field using electrodes in the dielectric fluid using by an electric pulse, in which the electric field creates a plasma in a volume existing between the bulk pieces that locally heats the bulk pieces to form structures within the volume, the dielectric fluid quenching the structures to form nanoparticles, and filtering the nanoparticles through a screen including holes of a size allowing nanoparticles of the size or smaller to pass through the screen to a region in the container, in which the dielectric fluid inhibits oxidation of the surface of the nanoparticles.
