Abstract:
A vehicle tire includes a selectively actuated stud deployment system for increased traction. The studs are contained in cells in the surface of the tire and forced to deploy by pneumatic or fluid pressure. When the pressure is released, the studs retract.
Abstract:
Device for embedding a thread in a rubber profiled element comprising: a continuous thread feeder arranged on a structure, a moving support able to run along the structure between a raised and a lowered position. A hollow needle, comprising a canal in which the thread runs is fixed by one of its ends to the base of the moving support in the duct, and a tip at its other end capable of penetrating the rubber profiled element, a cutter arranged on the structure, comprising a rotary blade able to cut off the thread at a given distance from the tip of the needle upon each cycle of reciprocating movement of the needle. The cutter comprises a paddle arranged behind the cutting wire of the blade and intended to fold the tail around the tip of the needle just after the thread has been cut by the blade.

Abstract:
A tire for preventing vehicle rollover or oversteer comprises a pair of bead portions, a pair of sidewall portions, a tread portion extending between the pair of sidewall portions, and a portion of low friction material positioned along an edge of the tread portion.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a studded tyre includes producing an unvulcanized tyre, inserting studs for the tyre into seats in a curing mould, disposing the unvulcanized tyre in the mould, closing the mould, curing the tyre, and opening the mould to extract the cured tyre. The cured tyre includes a tread band including a plurality of metal studs partially projecting from a radially outer surface of the tread band. Inserting the studs for the tyre into the seats includes disposing a stud-holding device supporting a plurality of the studs inside the mould, and expelling the studs from the stud-holding device so as to dispose the studs in the seats. A stud-holding device includes a toroidal body including a plurality of through holes and an expulsion mechanism. The through holes are capable of accepting studs and the expulsion mechanism is capable of expelling the studs in a substantially radially outward direction.
Abstract:
A spike for the running surface of a motor vehicle tire, especially a snow tire, with, as seen from above, an out-of-round, elongated, plate-like spike root (2, 2a), the greatest extension of which defines a longitudinal axis (7a), and an out-of-round, elongated upper part (4, 5) of the spike, the greatest extension of which defines a longitudinal axis (6a). In order to be enabled to accept even greater forces from below, the spike root (2, 2a) and the upper part (4, 5) of the spike are twisted in relation to each other, so that the longitudinal axis (6a) of the upper part (4, 5) of the spike encloses an angle (15, 15a) varying from zero with the longitudinal axis (7a) of the spike root (2,2a).
Abstract:
A method for producing a slippage preventing tire. Hard fine members and adhesives are mixed, thereby attaching the adhesives to the hard fine members. The hard fine members include at least one member selected from the group consisting of sand, ceramic particles and fiber reinforced resin particles. A silicone resin is mixed with a rubber material. The hard fine members and the attached adhesives are mixed with the rubber material and silicone resin prior to curing the adhesives. At least a tread surface of a tire is formed from the mixed hard fine members, adhesives, silicone resin, and rubber material, thereby providing the tire with excellent slippage preventing capacity.
Abstract:
An endless tire-mounted anti-skid belt is produced by spreading an endless fibrous mesh to the diameter of the vehicle tire on which the belt is to be mounted, impregnating the spread endless mesh with a hot-vulcanizable elastomer dissolved in a solvent, drying the impregnated spread endless mesh until at least 80% of the solvent has been removed, repeating the impregnation and drying steps several times until a desired thickness of elastomer has been deposited on the spread endless mesh, and curing the elastomer by vulcanization in an autoclave under hot steam.
Abstract:
A tire stud gun having a rotary valve thereon at one end of the housing actuated by the handle for selectively actuating the piston therein to force a tire stud into a blind bore in a tire tread.
