摘要: A process for producing a composite material or a precursor thereof includes the steps: (i) printing a support material (A1) with an ink (D) which can be cured by irradiation with light, the support material (A1) (a) being impregnable with a curable resin (B) which after curing is transparent and light-stable, and (b) having a translucency, based on the overall thickness, of 10-95%, preferably 20-90%, more preferably 30-80% for light in the wavelength range of 200-500 nm; (ii) curing the ink (D) by irradiation with light; (iii) impregnating the thus-treated support material (A1) with a curable resin (B) which after curing is transparent and light-stable, and optionally combining the support material (A1) with at least one further support material (A2); and (iv) curing the curable resin (B) simultaneously with or after step (iii); and also relates to the material obtainable by this process.

摘要: A fibrous web product with a surface treatment containing bacterial cellulose and a method of surface treating such fibrous webs. The bacterial cellulose is applied to at least one surface of a fibrous web, to make products such as printing material suitable for magazines or advertisements, by use of conventional paper manufacturing equipment. The bacterial cellulose may be applied singularly or in combination with other materials such as fillers or pigments. Bacterial cellulose applied at relatively low concentrations gives excellent properties of gloss, smoothness, ink receptivity and holdout, and surfaces strength.

摘要: A novel printing surface for recording indicia by an intensely colored iridescent interference color is provided by a white thin film of an iridescent pigment on a base web. The vivid color is developed by a dye which may be contained in the pigment coating itself, as finely divided particles not apparent to the eye, or the dye may be applied from an external source, as in a manifolding system. The pigment comprises an essentially transparent micaceous substrate having thereon at least one overcoating of an essentially transparent material having a refractive index which is greater than about 2.0, and may be mixed with up to 75% by weight of diluent material to form a low-cost recording composition.

摘要: Aqueous, low-viscosity, printing fluids containing (A) A watersoluble, cationic, thermosetting resin prepared by reacting either (1) an aminotriazine and formaldehyde or (2) an aminotriazine with formaldehyde and an alkylene polyamine, urea or a mixture of alkylene polyamine and urea, and (B) a watersoluble dye which is compatible with the resin. These printing fluids are useful in high speed paper printing processes.
