摘要: An liquid crystalline organic semiconductor material practical as an organic semiconductor is provided. The material is a liquid crystal composition having a smectic liquid crystal phase. The liquid crystalline organic semiconductor material has a distyrylbenzene structure of formula (1). When heated to a temperature range for the smectic liquid crystal phase followed by being cooled, the material takes on a solid state as a result of phase transition from the smectic phase. Wherein R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, each represent an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a group of general formula (2): Wherein R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and B represents —(CH2)m—, —(CH2)m—O—, —CO—O—(CH2)m, —CO—O—(CH2)m—O—, —C6H4—CH2—O— or —CO—.

摘要: Disclosed herein is an image forming method for forming an image on a reversible thermo-sensitive recording medium provided with a recording layer containing liquid crystal that exhibits a solid phase or a fixed phase at a room temperature and a cholesteric liquid crystal phase at higher temperature. Specifically, the image forming method comprises: a first heating process for heating the liquid crystal in a crystal phase to a first temperature that allows the liquid crystal to exhibit the cholesteric liquid crystal phase or an isotropic phase to form an image and for rapidly cooling the liquid crystal to fix thus formed image; and a second heating process for heating at least a part of an area of the recording medium containing at least a part of an area where the image has been formed to allow at least a part of the image to discolor or develop a color and for rapidly cooling the liquid crystal to fix thus discolored or developed image.

摘要: A process for the production of extendable thermographic plates for matching the curvatures of the human body when thermography is carried out. In the process, a capsular ink formulation based on microencapsulated liquid crystals is applied by screen printing an elastomer plate of natural latex, the formulation being elastic and including, as a binder, a solution of polyvinyl alcohol modified by the addition of an inorganic cobalt salt which confers elasticity, and stability of the color-change temperatures of the liquid crystals.

摘要: Luminosity values of a structure carrying information, in particular grey scale values, are transformed into corresponding isochromates. The transformation is effected by optically imaging the information carrying structure onto a layer of liquid crystals. By this means, a thermogram corresponding to the information carrying structure produced in the layer of liquid crystals, so that the luminosity values of the structure carrying information is transformed into isotherms in the layer of liquid crystals, and the isotherms are converted into isochromates as a result of the colour/temperature behaviour of the layer of liquid crystals.
