Abstract:
A trailer suspension slider is provided that includes a suspension bogey. A trailer is supported on the suspension bogey and is longitudinally movable between a plurality of position relative to the suspension bogey. The trailer includes a stop bar to prevent the bogey from sliding out from underneath the trailer during braking if the pins are disengaged. A locking pin mechanism is movable between a locked position in which the locking mechanism couples the suspension bogey and the trailer in one of the plurality of positions and an unlocked position in which the trailer can move relative to the suspension bogey. The suspension bogey may collide violently with the stop bar when braking from a relatively low speed when the pins are unlocked. To this end, an energy absorption device is supported on either the trailer or the suspension bogey. The energy absorption device collapses in response to the stop bar engaging either the energy absorption device or the suspension bogey. Alternatively, an expandable cable may be used between the trailer and suspension bogey to slow the trailer as the stop bar approaches the suspension bogey.
Abstract:
A suspension system adapted to receive an endless belt drive is provided, the suspension system comprising a first wishbone adapted to be secured at a first end thereof to a frame of a vehicle a second wishbone adapted to be secured at a first end thereof to the frame, a hub connecting the first wishbone and the second wishbone at second ends thereof, a tandem member pivotally secured to the hub, and at least one pair of wheels attached to the tandem member, the at least one pair of wheels being adapted to contact the endless belt to support the vehicle. A method of using same and a kit providing same are also provided.
Abstract:
A single wheel unit adapted to be mounted on a vehicle body (11) comprising: a wheel frame supporting a suspension mechanism (15) and a wheel assembly mounted on the suspension mechanism (15), and steering means mounted between the wheel frame and vehicle body (11) for pivoting the wheel frame relative to the vehicle body (11) so as to steer a vehicle, wherein the steering means includes two steering components (30) pivotally attached (32, 33) one at each of the leading and trailing portions of the wheel frame and capable of being actuated to independently displace the leading and trailing portions laterally of the vehicle body (11).
Abstract:
A railway truck leveling valve arrangement for improved railway car floor height control comprises a pneumatic level regulating valve, a rigid, lightweight bar, and a leveling valve linkage. The level regulating valve is connected to and mounted above a secondary air spring suspension. The rigid, lightweight bar extends between the axleboxes of the railway truck wheelsets, the railway truck wheelsets being coupled to a primary suspension. The leveling valve linkage connects the level regulating valve and the rigid bar. The level regulating valve senses spring deflection in both the primary and secondary suspensions and signals the secondary air spring suspension to compensate for both deflections. Consequently, the correction of the overall railway car floor height by the secondary suspension provides more precise car floor to station platform height control.
Abstract:
A tandem drive arrangement includes one or more independently driven wheels (118) that are arranged in a tandem configuration along a beam (120). The beam (120) is rotatably connected to a frame (102) of a machine (100). The tandem drive arrangement further includes an actuator (206) operating to selectively impart a rotating moment to the beam (102). The rotating moment tends to rotate the beam (120) in one direction and counteracts a torque imbalance resulting from operation of motors (128) rotating one or more independently driven wheels (118) connected to the beam (120).

Abstract:
A suspension repositioning system for a trailer is provided that includes a trailer frame having spaced apart rails with a plurality of sets of holes in the rails. A suspension unit is movable relative to the frame along the rails. The suspension unit has a set of pins movable between locked and unlocked positions which are engageable with one of the plurality of sets of holes in the locked position to secure the suspension unit to the trailer frame. A speed sensor detects a speed of the suspension unit, and a pin position sensor detects the unlocked position of at least one of the pins. An alarm is connected with the speed sensor and the pin position sensor. The alarm sends an alert signal in response to the speed sensor detecting a predetermined speed and the pin position sensor detecting the at least one of the pins in the unlocked position.
Abstract:
A vehicle equipped with a double wishbones and double tandem members suspension system to suspend the vehicle, the double tandem members being operatively interconnected together and adapted to receive idling wheels adapted to support and guide an endless belt thereon to provide significant suspension travel and prevents an endless belt disengagement from the idling wheels. A suspension system and a kit thereof are also provided.
