Abstract: A torsion axle assembly for supporting of a vehicle body on an undercarriage, including an elongated inner member having an inner member longitudinal axis; a torsion arm interconnected with the elongated inner member and the undercarriage; an elongated enclosure interconnected with the vehicle body and having an interior space; and resilient material residing within the interior space to support the elongated inner member within the interior space, such that the inner member longitudinal axis resides at an unloaded camber angle to an elongated enclosure longitudinal axis when none of the weight of the vehicle body is borne by the torsion axle assembly and at a loaded camber angle when the weight of the vehicle body is borne by the torsion axle assembly, such that the unloaded camber angle is greater than the loaded camber angle. A vehicle having such a torsion axle assembly and a method are disclosed.

Abstract: A modular wheel and suspension assembly (MWSA) to provide mobility to a load for towing. The MWSA can have a fender housing and a suspension arm and suspension mechanism that is rotated toward a pivot arm with a suspension mount that engages with the suspension mechanism and a wheel. The suspension arm can be rotatably attached to the fender housing. A linear actuator can rotate the suspension arm to raise the fender housing while deploying the wheel from the fender housing. Rotating the suspension arm in the opposite direction causes the fender housing to be lowered over the wheel and the load to be lowered as the wheel retracts into the fender housing. The MWSA can have a rotary tongue system with an operable connection to the suspension arm. Rotating the suspension arm lowers and raises a tongue when the wheel is deployed from or retracted into the fender housing.

Abstract: A carrier platform with a suspension mechanism and suspension methods for supporting a vibration-sensitive load including humans and sensitive objects or cargo in a vehicle such as a terrestrial vehicle, a marine vehicle or aircraft. The suspension mechanism deploys a set of linkage elements for accommodating linear motion of the carrier platform in a vertical linear degree of freedom (Z-axis) and in two horizontal linear degrees of freedom (X- and Y-axes). The suspension mechanism uses springs attached to the carrier platform for biasing it along the vertical linear degree of freedom. The suspension mechanism also has an active damping device with a set of motors to dampen vibrations experienced by the carrier platform in at least one translational degree of freedom.

Abstract: The apparatuses and methods disclosed herein may be towed forwards and backwards by a motor vehicle. Thus, implementations of the transport device disclosed herein may have functions akin to a goose-neck trailer, yet may provide easier, more efficient and/or more cost effective transportation and loading functions over prior art trailer transportation systems. Furthermore, in some implementations, the transport device disclosed herein includes at least three, non-aligned wheels and therefore can function like a cart. Still further, in some implementations, the transport device disclosed herein can have the functions of a wagon, yet still back and maneuver like a trailer. Abstract: A suspension system for a vehicle includes an extendable and retractable actuator disposed at each side of a frame of the vehicle and pivotally attached at one end to a vehicle bracket and at the other end to a suspension bracket. The suspension bracket includes an actuator portion, an axle portion and a suspension arm, with the actuator portion and the suspension arm pivotable relative to an axis of the axle portion. When the actuator is extended or retracted, the actuator portion pivots about the axis of the axle portion and imparts pivotal movement of a suspension arm about the axis to adjust a height of the frame of the vehicle. The actuator includes an elastomeric element disposed between an outer end of a slide rod and an outer end of a ram rod, with the slide rod movable to absorb sudden movements of the frame or wheel.
