    摘要: This invention relates to a flexible structure for defining at least part of the periphery of a plenum chamber of an air cushion vehicle. The structure includes two sidewalls defining an opentop channel adapted to receive fluid under pressure from a pressure supply source, a closable fluid passage is defined along the base of the channel and a lip or flap forming a continuation of the lower edge of one of the sidewalls defines a valve member engageable with a reaction surface over which the vehicle is positioned to regulate escape of air from the plenum chamber beneath the flexible structure. The arrangement is such that the fluid pressure within the channel is maintained substantially equal to that within the plenum chamber.

    摘要: A hovercraft without lift fan includes: a hull; and a power device; wherein the hull includes: a main body; and two sub-bodies; wherein bottom surfaces of the sub-bodies are lower than a bottom surface of the main body, the two sub-bodies are symmetrically aligned under a front portion of the bottom surface of the main body, the two sub-bodies are provided with a distance therebetween; an outer surface of the sub-body and an outer surface of the main body form an aligned side surface or an unified side surface; the aligned side surface or the unified side surface extends towards a space under the bottom surfaces of the main body and the sub-bodies for forming a main sidewall; an inner side surface of the sub-body extends towards a space under the bottom surface of the sub-body for forming a sub-sidewall; wherein during sailing, the main sidewalls and the sub-sidewalls are partly immersed in water and respectively form three independent lifting areas having forward openings with the bottom surface of the main body and the bottom surfaces of the sub-bodies. The hovercraft doesn't utilize the lifting fan of conventional hovercrafts. However, during sailing, a high-pressure air cushion is effectively formed under the hull, in such a manner that low sail resistance, high propulsion efficiency and high speed is archived.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed to transport and position a drilling rig over dry land, marshland and water. Surface effect vehicles having drive and positioning means that develop thrust against the surface over which they travel are used to lift and transport a drilling barge, after which they may be used as support and supply vehicles. Provision is made to adjust variable cargo loads so as to balance the assembled unit during transport.

    摘要: A watercraft combining the physical and hydrodynamic features of a catama, a hydrofoil, and a rigid sidewall air cushion vehicle that might be considered a triple hybrid (TRIBRID). The TRIBRID is intended to operate as a multi-modal vehicle in the approximate speed range of 0-100 knots. The vehicle from at rest to operational speed, obtains its lift at first from 100% buoyancy of catamaran hulls, then from dynamic lift of hydrofoils, and finally from powered aerostatic lift from a captured air cushion. A combination of two or all lift modes may be used through speed changes and at intermediate speeds.
