Abstract: An electric bicycle drive unit is arranged in a bottom bracket area of a bicycle frame. The drive unit includes a bottom bracket assembly having a bottom bracket shaft, an electric motor device and an energy storage device for supplying energy to the motor device. The energy storage device can be arranged in a down tube of the bicycle frame having a closed tube cross-section, and is removable from the down tube coaxially along a longitudinal axis of the down tube. The disclosure also relates to a bicycle frame or frame interface unit respectively, and to an energy storage device for the electric bicycle drive unit. The energy storage device is attached directly to a housing of the motor device or in a common housing of motor device and energy storage device when the drive unit is installed in the bicycle frame in a state ready for operation.
