摘要: There is provided a method of moving an aircraft using an aircraft mover, in various instances, an aircraft tractor. The method comprises: a] accelerating the aircraft up to speed using one or more electric motors drivable by at least a fast-discharge electrical-energy storage and supply device during a high-power requirement of the aircraft mover; b] substantially maintaining a speed of the aircraft using a slow-discharge electrical-energy storage and supply device during a low-power requirement of the aircraft mover; c] monitoring a charge status of the slow-discharge and fast-discharge energy storage and supply devices and when a predetermined charge status is reached, automatically charging the slow-discharge and/or fast-discharge energy storage and supply devices via an onboard electricity generator; and d] regeneratively recharging the slow-discharge and/or fast-discharge electricity-energy storage and supply devices during at least deceleration of the aircraft coupled to the aircraft mover. There is also provided a method of controlling the power distribution to the motors within the aircraft mover, a dual electrical-energy storage and supply system and controller for implementing the method, a hybrid power delivery system for an aircraft mover incorporating the dual electrical-energy storage and supply system and controller, and an aircraft mover using the systems.

摘要: An apparatus for moving parked aircraft with a tractor via an aircraft lift dolly which includes a hinged gate to entrap the aircraft nose gear. The aircraft lift dolly may be removably detachably coupled to the tractor through two attachment points to an intermediate connecting towbar. The aircraft lift dolly includes a lift mechanism having a lift carriage which is selectively elevated. The lift carriage includes a fixed forward chock and a rear chock that it repositioned longitudinally with respect to the forward chock and is hingedly coupled. The chocks are positioned about the aircraft nose gear without movement of the aircraft. Elevating the lift cradle elevates the chocks and the nose gear cradled therebetween.

摘要: Disclosed a towbarless airplane tug and method of operating thereof. The tug comprises a chassis mounted on a plurality of tug wheels, at least some of said tug wheels being steerable tug wheels and at least some of said tug wheels being drivable tug wheels; an airplane wheel support turret assembly, rotatably mounted in connection with said chassis and operative to support at least one wheel of a nose landing gear of an airplane; at least one rotation sensor connected to said wheel support turret assembly and operative to sense rotation of said wheel support turret assembly relative to said chassis, said rotation resulting at least from steering control induced movement of the nose landing gear caused by pilot-controlled ground steering of said airplane, and to generate an output indicating a direction of said pilot-controlled ground steering of said airplane; at least one tug wheel driver unit operative to drive said drivable tug wheels; at least one tug wheel steering mechanism operative to steer said steerable tug wheels thereby providing steering of said chassis; and at least one tug controller operative to control operation of at least said tug wheel steering mechanism at least in response to said output of said rotation sensor, so as to cause steering said steerable tug wheels such that said chassis moves in the direction indicated in said output of said rotation sensor.
