Abstract: A method of estimating curvature of a lane in front of a vehicle includes obtaining a reference distance, a reference angle, a reference curvature, and a reference change-rate, based on an image captured by a front camera of the vehicle; calculating respective estimation distances, by which the specific portion of the vehicle will be estimated to be spaced apart from the first extension line, at a plurality of target distances, on a transverse straight-line of the vehicle spaced apart from the vehicle by a predetermined target distance in the forward direction along a second extension line extending from the specific portion of the vehicle in the forward direction of the vehicle, based on the reference distance, the reference angle, the reference curvature, and the reference change-rate; and calculating the curvature of the lane in front of the vehicle based on the respective estimation distances at the plurality of target distances.

In a multi-trailer reverse assistance system in an articulated transport system comprising a lead vehicle, an intermediate trailer, and a final trailer, the reverse assist system includes a controller. The controller is configured to: receive a view of an environment behind the final trailer; cause the view to be displayed in a display screen of a user interface device; receive, via a secondary steering device of the user interface device, a user intended direction of travel of the articulated transport system in reverse to direct the final trailer in a desired direction; continuously calculate controllable steering angles for directing the articulated transport system to direct the final trailer in the desired direction; and control the articulated transport system to direct the final trailer in the desired direction using the calculated controllable steering angles.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer guidance system includes an electronic control unit (ECU), a rear backup camera and a trailer camera disposed at a rear portion of a trailer hitched to the vehicle. A display screen is disposed in the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. With the trailer hitched to the vehicle, the display screen is operable to display video images derived from image data captured by the trailer camera. At least in part via processing at the ECU of image data captured by the trailer camera, an instruction that aids maneuvering the vehicle in reverse with the trailer hitched thereto during a reversing maneuver of the vehicle and trailer is generated. During the reversing maneuver of the vehicle and trailer, the display screen displays an alert when angling of the trailer relative to the vehicle approaches a jackknife condition.
