    Abstract: The present invention provides an improved, leak proof, air tight, cost-effective, plastic liquid specimen container device and methods of use, comprised of a container, a lid, a lid groove containing a gasket therein that is configured to cover and tighten over the rim of the container, a lid flange, and a thin hook in the container containing a second gasket that is compressed by the lid flange when the lid is closed over the container. The improved container device of the present invention thus provides two, independent, internal seals that protect the liquid contents therein for extended periods of time, even if the plastic undergoes deformation, during transport, especially air transport, and under varying temperature and atmospheric pressure.

In order to create a container with an improved closure, it is suggested that the thread ribs (5, 6, 7, 8) conformed on each of the container lid (2) and on the container lower section (3) are created to extend over a circumferential angle of 90 degrees or less, that a clearance (circumferential angle β) at least equal to the circumferential direction thereof is left in the circumferential direction on the lid and on the lower section, and at least two thread ribs (5, 6, 7, 8) are constructed on the lid and the lower section so as to overlap each other, wherein a complete overrun in the circumferential direction is possible in only one of the two opposing positions when an opposing position of a thread rib (5, 6, 7, 8) in the lower section or the lid is reached in the course of a screwed connection in the direction of the screwing axis of rotation (A).

    Abstract: A container includes a lid adapted to seal with a base. The lid and base rims each have vertical segments that mate upon sealing the container. The mating segments form a vertical seal zone. The vertical seal zone has a width extending across the rim surfaces. One or more vent channels are disposed on either or both rims. Each vent channel extends partially into the vertical seal zone. When pressure inside the container reaches a critical level, the lid rises and reduces the width of the seal zone, creating a vent point. Pressurized vapors traveling through the vent channel overcome rim-engaging forces at the vent point and pass through the engaged rims. Once pressure is purged, the lid descends and resumes its sealed arrangement with the base. The rims may respectively include horizontally oriented segments that engage each other to from a horizontal seal zone.
